According to the link below, 1010 Common, as of today's date, only has 34,780 sf of space left for lease. Hmm...

Interesting.. I feel like there's never enough lights on to be that full..
I did see someone say one the of the incentives given to DXC was a $1.5million demolition grant, idk if thats factual but makes one wonder.

I can guarantee you that building is not full. If the state is throwing in some money to help cover the cost of upgrading the building to Class A status, it would be the perfect place for DXC to lease out 300,000 square feet of contiguous space. 1515 Poydras is the only other office building in the city with over 100,000 square feet of contiguous space. If DXC intends to sign a long term lease for all 300,000 square feet from the start, 1010 Common is really the only option available to keep everything under one roof.

It is interesting that so little space is available for lease at 1010 Common now. Makes me wonder if something is already in the works.

1010 was half empty as of the last Corporate Realty report on NOLA's Office Market. And yeah I've never seen more than a handful of lights on there. If there really is only a few thousand sf available for rent then DXC's new office would explain it... Also, I imagine 1010 is pretty cheap and as happy as I am to hear about DXC coming to town, they certainly seem budget conscious/cheap based on all of the media/reviews I've been reading.

Still, great get for the city -- this will really help strengthen the job market considering how bad it's been the last couple years (compared to the rest of the country at least). The more tech talent we have here the easier it will be to attract "sexier" and better paying companies in the future.

In one of the Corporate Realty reports, I remember reading that 1010 was only leasing on a few floors and had over 400k sf in reserve "for future redevelopment" so it is certainly a possibility. As for Plaza, I think some sort of co-working space would be good for the lower levels, if not normal office use, with residential in the smaller tower portion. I think that was the original intention when it was designed.

Curious to know if anyone here is familiar with how all of the co-working spaces around town are doing? Launch Pad is in bigger digs now, The Shop took over two floors of CAC, then you have Landing Zone, Beta, The Warehouse, etc. etc.

Are they all doing well?

i think there were some issues with ground floor commercial space (they didnt have enough according to zoning) but if its going to be ready for 2018 in the summer they will probably need to get back to work soon.

update: i looked further at the permit for 731 st charles and it still hasnt been approved for renovation only demo work.. they did correct their zoning issues to comply with the underlining zoning so there are changes from the original plan. they did get a release for foundation work in August but thats it

B on Canal opens January 2018:

this is a nice upgrade from that 504 Hotel that was there before and will contribute to the revitalization of Upper Canal Street. This area will be totally different by even next year.

Great, thanks. I have my doubts they're going to make summer 2018 but we'll see I suppose.

It sure seems like that expansion is way behind the rest of the terminal

It'll take some maneuvering to make it happen, but it's my understanding that DXC will be going into one of the 3 towers across from the Superdome.

well its the same owners for all three isnt it? so im guessing they can move tenants around to accomodate them unless they will just be spread throughout

I hope that the state/city can spruce up the area around the Superdome quickly if that is the case. There is over 300k sf of space available in the three buildings combined, but it would require some shuffling. Personally I'd go for 1010 Common if it is available. There are a lot more residential options and amenities near it.

It kinda sounded like to me, the states exploring of the Superdome renovations that they'll include some kind of residential around the dome too.. so maybe have something down there in a few years.
