An open lobby such as that would've been very nice - my only critique of the final design is the base, though I'll hold my final judgements until it's all said and done.

Safety does come first.

Apparently, Wired NY members are saying that base cladding has started behind the black tarp and canvas.

I actually would've liked the design if it the actual building was the whole height and not half a building with a metal thing on it.

It's sad to see aesthetics bow to fear.

Shouldn't the glass be in front of the black netting?

No, with the exception of the glass "fins" it will be flat with the regular office window cladding. The black netting is over scaffolding like the black netting near the top of the tower. There is enough space between the scaffolding and the structure to install the panels. They might be using tarps to protect sensitive parts of the LED back-lighting system, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Saw the special advance screening of "Iron Men-4WTC Rebuilding" on an exclusive channel on Directv,an episode of the Rebuilding which is to debut on The Weather Channel on August 30,2012,and have to say it was amazing. Many aerial shots from 4WTC,many shots of 1WTC at its current state(meaning the show was filmed during July and August).Great show guys.Don't forget to watch it on the Weather Channel on the 30th of August.

I have a shot of that from my NYC visit in June. But perhaps someone else can take a more current picture. Jules was at the intersection of Church and Lispenard Streets, which is the exact spot I took this picture.

But I don't recall seeing these renderings of that base, which are well done...
