I only have two things to say.

1. You have to see this building in person to believe how mammoth it is.
2. I'm sure this has been said before, but the glass looks awesome.

Enjoy the not so worthwhile pics, because i took them while on the run.

I have to agree about the size of the tower already, I was in NYC at the beginning of May and was staying in Lower Manhattan for several days, so I saw this building daily, and it is definitely mammoth and only getting bigger.

Though personally I am not a fan of the building because besides being tall, it is nothing more than another glass office building. Though while saying that, I am trying to hold off on my final opinion of the tower until I see it completed because the original towers were basically boring buildings but in context with the rest of the city and their sheer size, they were amazing to see.

@Urbanlife

The first big thing that might change opinions of this tower as a boring monolith will be when the facade is high enough that sun and sky will reflect it. This, remember, is the centerpiece of a four tower complex that ascends/descends. The original twins simply dominated Downtown to the point of overbearingness, especially when viewed from Jersey, and even more especially before BPC.
Also, other products of the Downtown Boom like Gehry NY, 99 Church and 56 Leonard are pushing the skyline northward. This will mitigate what might be perceived by some as the WTC Complex's over-dominance and make it more of the peak it should be. Mr. Yamasaki's originals didn't create a skyline peak as much as it did the opportunity for many to visualize the twins as planting two redwoods in a bonsai patch.

That is a good point, which is one of those reasons why I kind of want to hold out my final opinion because I am curious what the light reflection on the tower is going to be like in combination with downtown. And I do like the fact that it feels like it is more apart of downtown rather than a separate site within downtown.

Though the Gehry building is another thing, I do agree with it stretching downtown more northward, which is a good thing, but dammit do I hate that building so much and even more so now that it is named after Gehry. But that is a whole different topic.

huh? It is a slab concrete building with a facade that will more than likely be plagued with leaks and insulation issues. I could care less if others like that tower because that is sort of the point of architecture. No one building is loved or hated by everyone. I am sure for as many people that hate a building, you can find plenty of people who like it, so I see no reason to discredit any of your opinions about architecture.

Word going around is that there will be NO outdoor observation deck like there was on the south toweer. Durst says it's near impossible. So no restaurant and now no outdoor deck. What we have now is a two story indoor deck with NO VIEW of the Brooklyn Bridge and Lower Manhattan.

There was never a plan for an outdoor deck, this is really old news. There is just no room up top, and this has been discussed numerous times before as to why it is not possible and so just know that it will not happen. The restaurant is a more recent development, and hopefully they will find someone willing to operate the restaurant in the future, as the space is still there. Until then the floor may be similar to the top floor of 7wtc, and just used as an event space.

I'm sure i'm not the only one who feels that the only improvement to the skyline will be when looking from the SW/W. Other than that I feel the new complex is great BUT is just a better looking and well planed version of the 'worlds tallest block'/dubai marina.
