We have quite the collection of supertalls that never happened smh. But can't agree more, another 850+ footer is always a win.

Indeed. And if Parcel I is 800' and gets built mid decade it will be indefinite.

Waterview Tower was taller and in a less epic location, feels less likely to happen here. *knock on wood*

Chicago has continuously been building 800+ footers since May 2016 when One Bennett Park construction began:

Sorry if this was answered but is the second tower still a go potentially?

Will there be a mockup of the facade?

Not right now.

The loan was only for tower 1.

If tower 2 ever happens, that'll be years down the road.

Right, Tower 2 happening years down the road was originally the plan though. I meant are they still going to try to get the loan when this one wraps up?

I know the current loan is only for Tower 1 but was wondering if the other one was nixed.

I would assume they are. According to Related's website, the second tower is still in play, though there is no timeline specified. Have you heard something different?

Quote:
The towers, designed by the Chicago Office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill with David Childs, will vary in height and be set at a slight angle to one another, forming a gateway that offers spectacular views along the lakefront and river corridors.
Quote:
With a projected completion date of early 2027, Phase One will consist of constructing the site’s 858-foot-tall North Tower.

Well, that's the plan, so why wouldn't they try?

Found this picture from 5 days ago. It's from a guy named Kuna Joel's LinkedIn. He's a project operations director at Related.

Hopefully he keeps posting updates!

It's a mud pour to create a hard level surface to work on and build the mat on. Next they will build a huge mat of rebar on top of this fresh hard surface and then do a massive mat pour.

As far as I can see, the floor slab is being poured on top of this. Similar to One Vanderbilt, a lot of steel reinforcement is laid and this is later filled with concrete.

This is the most exciting foundation work in Chicago since Vista Tower.

wonder how long it took to pump all the water out, and did they just dump it into the river?

Can't figure out how to post them, but here's some pictures from today on Reddit. Lots of rebar laid.
