Awesome photos!

You captured some great great beach scenes. For me it's all about the beach, surfing and the outdoors. If SD didn't have a single highrise, I would not care.

I have two nephews who are brothers, one moved to Portland, he hated it, and came back to Sacramento, they other nephew chose UC San Deigo over Portland based on the advice of his brother. I seconded it.

San Diego is listed as a gamma city by this ranking system, not all the gamma cities were put on the map I guess.

what beach is that powder white one near the end of the set?

It's the photo with the blue umbrella in the center and the water looks incredibly clear and clean. You can even see rocks and seaweed in the water.

Anyway, GREAT photos! This is the best "San Diego" thread I've seen. Helps me remember why I'm never leaving San Diego!

That is one of the small pocket beaches in Downtown La Jolla in front of LJ Museum of Contemporary Art. Those beaches in La Jolla plus nearby Marine St Beach and Windansea have by far the clearest water in SD and probably all of SoCal. They are my favorite beaches in Sd.

This is Windansea beach about a mile away that has the nice white sand and clear water similar to that one you mentioned (not as good of shot though):
