I agree completely.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The Portland Building is a once in a lifetime opportunity and the city is completely missing it. What's the current estimate just to fix the Portland Building? ...a quarter of a BILLION dollars? ...just to fix it? The Portland Building should be leveled & replaced with a new multi-purpose courthouse and city building. The courthouse could have a grand entrance facing the park. The rest of the building could have an entrance facing 5th Ave.

That is one of those buildings I definitely would not miss if it was torn down.

Full court press in downtown Portland

The Multnomah County Central Courthouse, one of the largest construction projects in the area, reflects an adaptive response to circumstances.

The $300 million project at the west end of the Hawthorne Bridge involves a new 17-story tower wrapping around a three-level restored historic structure.

Multnomah County already owned all of the block surrounding the 108-year-old Jefferson Station building. After officials closed a ramp from Oregon Route 99W to the Hawthorne Bridge, the block basically functioned as a small, off-the-books skate park. County commissioners could have elected to buy and demolish the building, but that was expected to take years. Ultimately, commissioners chose to incorporate Jefferson Station into the new courthouse.
...continues at the DJC.

I am happy the Jefferson Building is going to be incorporated into this new building. This is the type of reflection of Portland that I am most proud of when we renovate and reuse buildings rather than tear them down. I feel like in recent years we have started to move away from this ideal, so it is good to see it happen when it does.

The courthouse construction is some of the speediest I think I've ever seen. It's gonna have a pretty huge skyline impact.

Weren’t you literally just complaining that the park is a waste of space?

I don't think that was johnliu. In fact, I'm pretty sure it was a troll account I had to ban as that sounds awfully familiar.

I appreciate the photo update seeing as a spider has made it's home directly over the live construction cam mounted on the Hawthorne Bridge.

We appreciate the work you guys are doing to keep this a civil forum site unlike so many others that are nothing but people arguing.
