Returning to the big-in-Scandiland metric, though, the needle remains stubbornly set at 0. It would be nice to have something to talk about beyond politics given that I'll be in Sweden for the next two weeks, but alas they must receive mockery to no end.

Bay Street is noticeably more quiet on a nice June Friday.

I realized something was off when traffic on 401 east was unusually light at 7 pm last night. Did people just call in sick?

Someone was shot and critically injured amidst the Raptors celebrations at Yonge-Dundas Square overnight. Around 4 am. Yes, the celebrations were still going strong at that time.

There was additional mayhem in Toronto (police cars getting vandalized and such) but nothing major AFAIK other than that shooting.

Kids were driving around honking there horns all night. I'm sure there are many hangovers around Toronto from people that didn't participate.

We did walk down Yonge admittingly hoping to relive our high school euphoria. It was fun but, we all felt really old.

From what I've seen and from other accounts I've read, this celebration was bigger than either of the Jays Word Series celebrations.

I knew other Canadian cities across the country would get behind the Raptors, but I didn't expect the amount of support they got. Pretty incredible.

[cheesy movie-like line]We Canadians are all Raptors[/cheesy movie-like line]

The Toronto office is gutted today... and those who did show up aren't very productive.
My friends/family who work in Hamilton have had a bunch of no-shows as well.

From one championship basketball city (Moncton Magic) to another (Toronto Raptors), good work and a job well done.

There was a viewing party at the Avenir Centre here last night. They had the game on the jumbotron. My youngest son went, but I have no idea how well it was attended. I was in bed when he got home.

He wore his Raptors jersey. I got it for him way back in the Vince Carter era when it reached down to his ankles. It barely fits him now, but it has been a good luck charm all through this playoff run. Almost every time he wears it, the Raptors win..........
They just announced there were 1700 people at the Avenir Centre for the watch party. Not too bad at all.

I guess there were about 50 mini Jurassic Parks all over Canada.

Makes sense. Toronto is a bigger city.

1992 was a party that went on for a couple days. There was an effective effort in 1993 to keep the party off the streets the following days with columns of horses pushing us to the sidewalks and police officers creating chains. I guess the fear was this becoming an annual event lol.

There was one here. They double-featured the Rider game followed by the Raptor game at Mosaic Stadium. If I didn't have family and commitments that would have been a fun evening with a few friends.

They said 10,000 people watched at Mosaic stadium. That's a huge crowd to watch television.

Wow that's a huge crowd to stick around after watching Roughriders to watch the Raptors at Mosaic on the largest Jumbotron screen in Canada, (Mosaic's screen is larger than an actual basketball court).

But then again it doesn't take much excuse to convince Rider fans (some of the most rabid sports fans anywhere) to stick around after Rider game to party!

I wonder how may Raptor fans would do the same for the Riders, or the CFL in general

CFL? Isn't that one of those kinds of lightbulbs we're not allowed to buy anymore?

If I didn't have family with young kids I probably would have gone. With free admission I wouldn't have minded paying crazy concession prices for a couple of beers and some nachos to watch with a few friends. It's a great idea.

Wasn't really a punch, good thing Lowry was there to get him on the court or that cop probably would have escalated the situation.
