Those are some sweet pics. Even if the building has grown significantly, the aerial shots are always nice. With CITC, the W, 1911 Walnut, and hopefully the SLS, it's the beginning of a new era for Philly skyscrapers.

God, I love this city.

Pardon my naive question - I'm a newbie here - but does anyone know the projected top off date and the actual completion date?

Looking at the photos and webcam, they are working on the final 2 floors of the hotel rooms (orange). Then the blue section and skygarden top. TK said middle of December for top out (before Cooling Tower and Lantern I assume) ... maybe. Either way, it's getting very close.

During the open to the Eagles game today, FOX showed a skyline shot from the Linc and CITC looked gigantic.

I saw a special on action news. They brought a reporter up to the top of this tower to see what everyone does, contruction workers wise. The one construction worker said the building will be topping off at 1147 feet. Now sure if that is true or not??

The height of the building has not changed. It is 1121' from the elevation of the street. In Philadelphia, as in many jurisdictions, the elevations on plans are stated in feet above sea level. So the top of 1800 Arch Street is 1147' above sea level. Put another way, the street elevation at 1800 Arch Street is 26' above sea level.

The building is comprised of 60 stories/floors. It has always been comprised of 60 stories except that to "officially" be considered a floor, a floor typically must have an elevator stop. A mechanical floor which previously did not have an elevator stop, as the design evolved, gained an elevator stop, thus the increase from 59 to 60 stories/floors.

Apologies to all who were hoping for a taller building. Next time.

Big tower, shorter name: Comcast cuts 'innovation' from high-rise's moniker

Quote:
What's to one day be the tallest building in Philadelphia now has a shorter name.

Comcast Corp. has quietly tweaked the title of the 60-story high-rise being built for the company near its existing headquarters tower to make it "shorter and more digestible," spokesman John Demming said.

The building is now being called the "Comcast Technology Center," rather than the "Comcast Innovation and Technology Center," said Demming, adding that the earlier name had always been seen as a placeholder.
