The parks measure is going to be on the ballot for November. The original one proposed by Mayor Corroon was rejected as council members saw it as too excessive. I was bummed because it would have completed the Jordan River Trail. However, I guess last night another one was proposed to the Council that everyone will be allowed to vote on in November. I am really excited/hopeful for this measure because it will complete "most of the Jordan River and Parleys Trail" (although I wonder what most means and what is going to be left out. I really hope that it isn't the section between 200 S and N temple). I would love to see both of these trails finally finished.

The headline is incorrect. The car collided into the train.

Ugh.

Anyone attend the public hearing for FrontRunner and bus changes in December?

Sorry, for no pictures again, but they are installing the landscap on the North Temple Trax line. They are doing a very extensive job with it, including drought tolerant grasses. It's really starting to look nice. Now if the buildings will sooner rather than later, also start to look nice.

I can tell you that the streetcar system is heavily used here in Portland.

I can attest to that. I've ridden Portland's streetcars and light rail many times.

Here is a better picture of the lights that will be on both sides of North Temple at each TRAX station along the line.

Yeah.. Not much left to do. I wonder if they will have north temple fully opend by the time the state fair happens this year.

I'm curious on the street cars. Will they use the same pass system as Trax?

Also will this bad boy terminate close to the best buy Trax station?

Yes, the Sugarhouse Streetcar will link up with the Trax system at the 21st South stop. And I'd be utterly shocked if it had a different pass system than the Trax, when the Frontrunner, Trax, and bus system all operate on one pass. It's all UTA.

How lucky we are here in the SLC metro to have seen the investment in public transit that we have. I've got plenty of complaints about UTA, but with three more lines coming in the immediate future, I'm pretty stoked. Particularly for the Airport and Sugarhouse lines. They're game-changers for SLC. We're already seeing some impressive investment in the city, but with the Airport line, the new Theater, and the Convention Hotel (God and Republicans willing) I really think Salt Lake will be moved up to the next level.

To eleborate a bit more on the Streetcar line. The sugarhouse streetcar will use the same platform at 2100 S as Trax does. That is going to be one really busy station with four trains using it, Red, Blue, Green and Sugarhouse.

It's really to bad that the west side of that station is already developed. With that many lines coming together there, that could be one serious TOD, hopefully the east side will redevelop into something great.

I would imagine the 2100 South station would look like the Fashion Place station, with two platforms and three parallel rails. Future Mayor, when you say the red, blue, green, and streetcar lines will use the same platform, does that mean we know for a fact that streetcars will load and unload passengers at the exact same location, or do you suppose there will be a third parallel track for streetcars? I feel a third track would greatly simplify the task of train management, but I'm not sure there is sufficient room for this.

I wondered that myself, if it would be a three track system. Yes land would be the biggest issue, as I would see the street car track being east of the existing tracks.

Currently the parcel to the east that stretches from 2100 S to the streetcar right of way, is owned by Archer and Beck, the founders of Automated Business Products, that was formerly located on that parcel. I'm not sure what is in the main building right now, but I do know that the Rock Church (or something along those lines) is in the building at the rear of the property.

So I am quessing that as of right now there isn't plans to build a third platform, like Fashion Place.

Thanks for bringing up that question. Researching that parcel to the east and realizing that I know the owner of that property has given me some very interesting ideas. Archer and Beck own nearly 2.5 acres right by the transit lines.
