Edmonton and the 98th Grey Cup

Edmonton hosted the 98th Grey Cup this past weekend with a ridiculous amount of parties and events all around the city.

City Hall

Sir Winston Churchill square (huddle town central)

Looking back south from the 82 row

Our view from the 65th

Fair Commonwealth stadium

Let the games begin

63,317 fans, 95% in green...All with high hopes

Canadian Snowbirds making a pass ( I missed the afterburner on CF-18s, shit)

BTO was half time in true Canadian fashion, Down with Webster opened

High hopes being dashed

Montreal won 21-18 in a rather boring game, but the experience was fun as ever (unless you were trying to get a beer or take a pee)

Haha...nice. I always forget that by the time it's Oct/Nov there's already snow on the ground in much of Canada. So the Grey Cup is the Canadian Super Bowl? How do they decide which city hosts? My relatives are all BC Lions fans.

Canadian Super Bowl indeed. They rotate it around to each city to be fair.

Sorry to hear

More like, the Super Bowl is the US's Grey Cup.

There is nothing like Grey Cup. Something unexplainable happens when you mix 50 000 fans from across the country, frigid temps and ridiculous amounts of booze.

The game should have been as fast as the time lapse. It was quite boring.

All 4 of them were in protective custody in a special section.

Commonwealth stadium looks great, I hope one day Calgary can get a world class stadium like this. The Grey Cup is the most or close to the most watched sporting event in Canada every year, good job on this years game Edmonton....

Cool time lapse.

It was a pretty boring game, but at least Saskatchewan lost!

Awesome photos, thanks for posting! :-)
The snowbirds actually visited my fair town of Marietta, GA recently. They were part of an air show that was headlined by the Blue Angels.
