The Hudson Yards towers are all very nice at ground level. I wish they had carried some of the materials beyond glass further up. Obviously, there can be no comparison to the residential stunners like Verre and Steinway, but I think this is the wave of the future.

Related doesn't have some magic power over one of the largest banks in the world. They have a term sheet, as does Larry Silverstein. It's up to DB to weigh the two against each other and decide which building is the best fit for them.

And there you go. "Thousand footer" is what makes you think the design should be something other than what it is. But it was designed to be exactly what it is meant to be. It just happens to be a supertall tower at 985 ft. In another city, with another skyline, you would have had a need to go more flashy, but this is essentially background filler as far as that goes. And it's still a nice design. But 1,000 ft in New York now is like a 600-700 footer in a lot of places, and most American cities at least won't have as many of those as New York will have of supertall towers. Crazy, I know, but it's the new reality.

To be honest, I think it's a really elegant building. "Thousand footers" don't all need to be standing out of the crowd, otherwise one would end up with a skyline looking like Dubai's.... In other terms, a huge mess.

What makes this building beautiful is its monolithic shape. Simple, elegant, not over the top. A classy addition to NY's skyline

Dollars and cents aside, I find it hard the believe that MS or DB would want to share their HQ / regional HQ with BlackRock. Just wouldn't jive. Frankly the current locations for both of those firms are perfectly suitable; granted the buildings are 30+yrs old. My firm , which is a bulge bracket financial, is opting to stay put on 6th and is working with the landlord to refurbish the interior … so its a viable option for MS/DB to do likewise. If either or both do relocate, my bet is that they'll want to anchor their own buildings.

It didn't take much, but it seems this one has now leapfrogged over its neighbor the Spiral (1,005 ft) in height.

New filings for the full building reveal a height of at least 1011 ft.
