Thanks for sharing that Armorand, we can only hope that the progression of RT in Winnipeg will come at a faster clip than its inception.

I really hope that the majority of the populace does not share the opinions of those on the wfp commenters page. Katz just released his first sensible idea since entering office with using gas tax to pay for road and transit infrastructure and the selfishness nd ignorance in the responses is almost saddening.

Thanks for the uploads armor and! They are awesome!

Have you ever tried converting a DOZEN cellphone videos, then use Windows Movie Maker (newer, shitty one) and create one? It's going to take me hours to get the videos!
Then if your $ is so tight, why not find a Linux distribution that you like and works well with your hardware...

Most Linux software is FREEware.... Linux is not *new* anymore...It's been around since 1991. Gimp is like Photoshop, Inkscape is like Adobe Illustrator...I use Kino for video editing..but there is a better program that has more bells and whistles for editing video ...KDEnLive...

Quit your whinning already!

I'm sure that you're intelligent enough to figure this out.

Just another loser who watches too much Thomas The Train in his mother's basement.

The BRT is perfect for what Winnipeg needs right now and anyone that actually takes transit on a daily basis through Confusion Corner appreciates it. There is no valid argument against the BRT that doesn't make you look like a whiny pedantic little crybaby.

The people complaining are those that either have no clue (because they don't take transit) or they have a disturbing train fetish where they post pictures of individual train cars/engines on websites or view them like porn.

yea its a good first step, i can understand some of the criticism as it really only only affects a small portion of the rider demographic but it is called "phase one" and not the "fully completed rapid transit system" for a reason. I like the gas tax, make those not participating in sustainable transportation foot some of the cost. A big transit fare hike is needed to. I have mentioned before that i live in Ottawa at the moment and they have a phenomenal Rapid bus system. That being said a standard fare for the buses is $3.25 (although i pay a mandatory subsidized rate for a year long student pass bc of my student association). As long as people whine about 20 cent hikes the system will take forever to be completed.

I also don't understand why people keep bringing up light rail. Light rail is unrealistic for the city for a while until our population reaches 7 figures. Its to expensive, and not flexible enough. Maybe my opinion has been turned off by the horrible LRT in OTtawa.......

Hey h0twired, I got an idea! Lets waste taxpayers money, building TTTRT: Thomas the Train Rapid Transit!

I don't even accept that criticism.

There is no single piece of infrastructure that could be built that would daily impact a majority of residents on a daily basis.

Any interchange, bridge, underpass, intersection or busway is going to have limited use from a small portion of the population because our daily lives mostly exist in a small portion of the city.

How many people in Whyte Ridge are going to appreciate Cheif Peguis Trail? How many people from Transcona are going to appreciate the underpass at Wilkes and Kenaston? Does that mean we shouldn't build them?

Most people I know that bus from downtown and are having their busese rerouted through the busway are saying that it will reduce travel times by 15-30 minutes PER DAY. I hope everyone sitting on Donald stuck in traffic will start counting how many buses whip past them while they slowly approach confusion corner.

Unless you can bring an LRT directly into downtown (i.e. onto Graham Ave), it is a non-starter in my opinion.

No one in their right mind will want to take a transit system that goes Bus-Train-Bus for every trip to and from downtown. The BRT at least lets them stay on the same bus the entire trip and move faster than traffic for 3+ km.

I also agree that the costs do not make sense either. Especially once you consider the costs of a Subway underneath Portage Ave.

However some train fetishists might disagree.

theres some societal notion that trains are progressive and exemplify a "have" city.....i have never seen the master plan for our rapid transit but am curious to see where it will progress once the U of W to U of M line is finished. Perhaps a east to west route will be constructed? or even going further north connecting st. nob to UofM to UofW all the way through henderson (or use the walking path between gateway and releigh,

perhaps it would even reach ESP one day, in ottawa we rural rapid bus routes although they pay an additional fee for the service but reach communities that would be compared to ESP, dugald, springfield and so on

Come Tuesday, this will be the single biggest PR boost for transit in the history of this city.
