Urban Time Lapse Videos

There are so many great time lapse projects and artists dedicated to showcasing urbanity in all its often majestic beauty, perhaps it's time to highlight some of the best efforts here.

Starting of with one of the best I've seen. NightFall by Colin Rich, LA in all its luminous splendor.

And by the same artist: City Lights.

Here is a good one for Phoenix - by Michael Heiland. The more urban stuff starts around 2:45.

Nightfall is proabably my absolute favorite time-lapse video.. Colin did such a good job showcasing Los Angeles..

After seeing that and a few others, I got inspired to do the same kind of thing.. Here's my personal time-lapse project I just completed last week: A Day in Denver..

My favorites are ones with the camera in motion giving those subtle changes in perspectives. Thumbs up to anyone with the patience and effort to make great time lapse videos.

Hands down, the most inspiring timelapses I've seen are from Thrash Lab's Empty America series.

All excellent. I do like people buzzing around like ants though - Koyaanisqatsi-style.

I made this one a few years ago. It's shocking how expensive it is to have all of the equipment and most important, hard drive space to make a good one of these.

I had this idea one night to incorporate slow motion footage with time-lapse footage and thought it was something nobody has ever done. Well.. I was wrong.. Regardless this is a really good time-lapse.
