Well, at least we aren't one of the most congested cities, like:

The 10 Most Congested Cities

1. Los Angeles, CA
2. San Francisco, CA
3. Denver, CO
4. Miami, FL
5. Phoenix, AZ
6. Chicago, IL
7. San Jose, CA
8. Washington, DC
9. Portland, OR
10.Boston, MA

Just imagine Nashville's congestion if it were as large as those cities listed, but its infrastructure patterns were unchanged. Holy crapola!

Yeah really! The thought of it is just scary.

And that's different from most other cities of similiar ilk in what way? The encouraging thing is the amazing planned and under construction residential projects literally sprouting up all around and in the core like tulips in Cookeville.

Exactly. In any case, it was proven by many folks that the USA Today "study" was massively flawed anyway. He is just desparately searching for reasons to despise the city, thats all.

Virtually every majorcity lost population in the area that was the city limits in 1950. There were much more signifigant declines than Nashville and Uncle Dave is right, the city is trying to turn that around and bring more residential projects to the central city.

The numbers are interesting, but I believe the conclusion to be flawed. The "old Nashville" area is now called the Urban Services District, and it includes many more ZIP codes than those listed -- zip codes that were added during remapping and rezoning. For example, ZIP code 37210 is very much a part of the old Nashville city area, but it is not listed in the comparison calculation. Why? Because when the original data were compiled, 37210 did not exist in its current form. I appreciate the information, though. I know it took some time to research it, but unfortunately I think it is incomplete.
