SAO PAULO | E-Tower

Whats your opinion on this tower? At the same time, I like it but seems there are something missing...

149 meters high, 39 floors.

A little Freed, a little Pei, a little Stubbins, even a little Seidler...all rolled up into a slick little package.

What do you think is missing?

I like it fine. Not the best design I have ever seen, but the towers in Sao Paulo tend to be somewhat boxy and plain.

no they dont

the fact is that there is over 40 thousand highrises (12+ floors buildings, Emporis definition) in São Paulo, so many are bland and "erase" from the view the good ones.

I will soon create a thread with the 150 best highrises in São Paulo. (it wont include every good highrise, nor it will include tall and important but imho ugly or bland buildings)


As for what is missing in this tower, I am not sure. Maybe the texture could be more intricated?

I don't think it's that way just because of the fact that the minneapolis one was built a year earlier before the one in frankfurt.

I like it its a great po mo building. I would of made it 2 times the size it is now. but thats just 2 double the floor space. looks kinda tight.

I feel that this building is kind of unoriginal, because this disign exists in franfurt,minneapolis,and montreal, but I still like this building alot. I wish it were taller though.

Yeah, I think the criticism is that the design is rather generic, and looks like it may have been on a tighter budget (at least the exterior) than ones that look similar to it.

I'm a little confused as to why you seem to be defensive when you asked us our opinion on this building. I could see if someone totally trashed the design, but no one has done any such thing. In fact, most people find it a decent design, if even one repeated around the world, and maybe with more attention given to the facade of the other one's similar to this one. It's a decent design that could be worse. It could also be better, and even you implied that by saying that you think it's missing something. We're simply offering our opinion on what we think you say is "missing."

I think it's fine. One thing that is beginning to change in architecture is facades with more layers and depth. This one is pretty flat faced. Nothing wrong with that, but that was more of a trend in the early 90's. I think that's where people get the "boring" idea from. They want more layers to add interest.

I like this tower though.

I came also from the city of this Building Sao Paulo - SP Brazil and as I live abroad, I do not know personally this building up to now, only in photos. Regarding to its architecture, I see something common as the other ones in Berrini Avenue, its area of Faria Lima Avenue. The architecture is clean, easy in composing, similiar to hotel Melià in Marginal Pinheiros complex, and a little bit of Burj Dubai, a very small version for Sao Paulo with terraces divided in blocks of the building in different high places, something common already used in USA. It's a common modern building, but not even futuristic. A small version of quite used a lot architecture of mark highrises abroad. For daily tasks in office, I liked it. This is the problem today of Sao Paulo, they build a lot from 100m - 200m, but not a postcard building that is a point of reference. The city is an ocean of buildings quite similar in high and type with just small different aspects in architecture. There is no plan in doing a skyline with pieces of blocks considering a postcard at all, like Dubai and Pudong area in China for example. What is the skyline of Sao Paulo in the confusion city it is?. Maybe the Tv towers above buildings in Paulista avenuejust because they are in top of a hill, , that make a difference using the natural high quote of the mountain. Considering an unique building as postcard, it is not.

I actually like the back side of the tower better.

The front of the tower with its curved facade looks soo plain. There is definitely something "missing."

I think it's a very nice, but average, office building. You wouldn't really miss it on a skyline, but it would be pretty subtle.

I'm not quite sure about that overhang though. It could use some work.

I like the design, but most towers in Sao Paulo don't exceed 200 meters, right? So this probably will not stick out in terms of height.
