Great night shots Signal. Always a fan of your work, and those are some of my favorite you've taken.

In regards to 351, I agree. The number on problem is that the parking appears to essentially be the same height as the office space. Parking shouldn't be 50% of the building. Considering the store-front that will exist on Water Street, I think the building will look better from that angle. Unfortunately, St. John's is photographed nine times out of ten from the harbour. We shall see how it looks. Wasn't there supposed to be a restaurant that wraps around on floor of parking? I don't see that anywhere.

And in regards to the convention center expansion, are we POSITIVE that the white underneath the black brick in #3 isn't windows? I didn't think they were at first, but now I'm not so sure. If not, its awful. If so, I like it.

A reminder of what we're expecting:

http://www.threefiftyone.ca

Hopefully those features on the parking garage will minimize its impact enough that the building looks a little better proportioned.

The space is there for it, but it hasn't been constructed yet. You can see where it's going to be built in to the structure from shots on Harbour Drive. I will comb through Signals pictures and attach one to this post and show you where

EDIT:

You can see the hollowed out area (about t storeys high) where the parking is set back. That's where the restaurant space is. I assume all they'll have to do is put some walls up and make a room out of it. It'll probably be glassed over once the upper levels of the building have all been curtained off.

Dictionary of Newfoundland English turns 30

Quote:
CBC's Vik Adhopia looks at the evolution of the Dictionary of Newfoundland English, which hit bookstores across Canada thirty years ago this month.

The now 700-page tome catalogues words unique to the province, such as "sleeveen" (a rogue, rascal) and "scrunchions" — which according to the dictionary are remnants of food or a feast, scraps, bits of broken meat or even "refuse of any kind."

Decades of research, including thousands of hours of interviews with Newfoundlanders, went into creating the guide.

I can't spoil the surprise but expect some crazy cool pictures, weather permitting, tomorrow.

(EDIT: I got hired by someone to photograph something from someplace).

I don't think it is glass, if it was glass I would not be as critical of it. The rendering does not make it clear what the materials are.

I'm excited! I'm also going to make a prediction... Aerial pictures! Tell your pilot to make sure you can get some good density shots without houses wires and trees in the way

Congrats on getting hired too! I can't wait to see your pictures

You've got me very excited now! Congrats again on getting hired. Are you doing them in the morning, or will we have to wait until night?

Looking forward to it!

We should email council and ask them about the convention centre and tell them to engage the public in the design process seeing its their project.

Cross your fingers that this fog lifts before the rain sets in... I NEED that window for this to happen today...

It went very well - minus the fog, which grew very thick toward the end of my visit - and I'm processing the pictures now.

In any event, here's a little preview of where I was:

Awesome! I bet you'll get some great shots from up there! I probably shouldn't admit to this, but I was up there too one night! Earlier in the summer when they were starting the second steel floor. The only thing that stood in my way was a fence and a sleeping security guard haha, but it was a great view! I look forward to seeing more shots later on!

So was it east-port properties that hired you to take the pictures? Sounds like a erect pig!

Edit: sounds like a great gig! I hate autocorrect
