With his background, I'm somewhat surprised that he took the job with the City.

He was lured by their generous kickback policy.

Kickbacks from suppliers? I think that was only under the old regime!

Non-compete maybe? That was my initial thought when he said he was making a 5 year commitment, which is a odd thing to hear for a senior official.

Haven't touched this in a long, long time. It was pretty cool to look back on it. I probably won't fix anything at this point, because I don't have the time, however, are there any changes you guys think should be made to it?

Serious question.

Do people believe a city with a metro population of over 800 can be serviced properly with only 3 emergency wards?

All of the major cities in Canada have less ERs than we do per capita, and we have the worst outcomes.

Of course it can. We have more ERs than Vancouver, and we take longer.

Those 3 ERs will be equipped to do everything all day every day. Right now, if you get taken to Seven Oaks with a gunshot wound, you aren't staying there. There's no emergency surgery there. In most cases, you bypass it altogether. At the same time, as urgent care centres, Victoria and Seven Oaks can take the load of a lot of the useless crap that people go to ERs for now. This is a good idea, and it should be adopted in rural areas as well. Facilities need to be consolidated.

Double the Fun ... using G'MIC (GIMP plug-in) effect to double the size of Winnipeg's skyline at P&M.

they are (were) part of a 10 camera police pilot project that cost in 2010 about $460,000 a year.

From a 2010 Free Press article back at the end of the 2st year talking about if they city was going to extent the project here are the locations:

"There is one camera at Main Street and Henry Avenue, two at Main Street and Sutherland Avenue, two near the Millennium Library, one at Portage Avenue and Carlton Street, and one at Portage Avenue and Edmonton Street."

Thanks for the quick info. Appreciate that. The locations aren't a surprise as I have clients around all those areas.

Lindenwoods is/was part of the Town of Tuxedo.

Brockville area is the area around the Humane Society...around Wilkes... south of the CN tracks... I don't know... I think it could be part of Tuxedo too. Wilkes if you go west would be like going to Fort Whyte, which I think was part of Town of Tuxedo or City of Fort Garry.

I'll have to check the Detailed Area Plans I transcribed in '15.
