Of course. I'm just suggesting that maybe they still don't have enough money to finish the interior, but they're just sick of photoshop-ing it out of postcards.

But, like you said, it would definitely be a huge draw if it's for real, which I do hope it is!

i'm actually not that happy that rebuilding has started. It was the coolest urban legend. "did you hear about the unfinished supertall in NK that is a national embarrassment and they arrest you for trying to take pictures of it" I've wanted to see it in person one day. if its completed its just another tower. a dark, forboding, looks like the headquarters of a bond villain, type of tower.

Yeah, and the great part is; satellite images have great resolution and are able to take pictures from all angles nowadays. Just check out these satellite pics from earlier in this thread! Amazing!

It's almost as if the satellite descended down to street level to take this pic, only to swoosh back to space the next second.

lol man, i was joking. i think you didn't get my comment. all i wanted to say with the "satellite-thing" was that it's (nearly) impossible to get a pic nowadays ... the legal way.

It's as simple as buying a ticket to North Korea.
Go to the Ryogyong Hotel site.
Bring out your camera.
Aim.
Press the shutter button.

Tada!

everyone can BUY a ticket to north korea but NOT everyone can VISIT it. that's the difference. i saw so many documentaries about how normal people are trying to get to north korea ... almost all of them were not allowed to stay and the others who did stay were under permanent survaillance...
but now: enough of north korea and its regime!

The cladding is only to camouflage the building against the blue sky so now instead of having to ignore the building and airbrush it out of postcards you wont be able to see it at all

^ I think its going to look amazing against the same-blue sky. Maybe one day it'll be a reminder of the old regime, like the Hotel Rossiya/ Lomonosov University in Moscow.

that's not a very sustainable solution.

So who wants to go in and get one of the first 105th floor suites once it opens?? SSP meetup 2021 w00t!

Sounds good! You pay airfare. Seriously, I would pay to see this, it's an amazing building imo.

And the cladding is nice too. It doesn't look cheap but actually pretty good!

From what I've been reading they aren't planning on opening up the whole hotel, for safety and economical reasons. The cladding is just to make it look better and they plan on restoring the concrete in certain sections of the building to make it safe for use.

This has to be one of the ugliest buildings and building with longest construction period, I hope the same thing doesn't happen to WaterView Tower.

This is going to be pretty decent looking once the cladding is on.

Kim Jong-Il's Mountain of Supreme Ultimate Nuclear Terrorist Death Camp Stuff! Ooooh, I've always thought this was a weird and creepy building.
