^ hey! What does being an engineer have anything to do with it!

I take offense to that assumption.

My apologies, I shouldn't lump all engineers into one stereotypical category. The rest of my statement stands.

I think you're taking some of our comments a little to personally, I can't speak for everyone, but I mean no offense to Peggers. I think Calgary and Edmonton would rather watch our teams play Winnipeg than Phoenix or Columbus. The rivalry between the 3 western teams is pretty intense right now and it would be awesome if we could include Winnipeg in the mix.

Try working with surgeons... I'm sure engineers are very down-to-earth, by comparison!

Expanding on the Green Bay Packers scenario, what is Winnipeg's population base within a 1.5 hour drive from the MTS centre? I believe it is over one million inhabitants, This would include places like the Pembina valley and Steinbach - both of which are the fastest growing areas in Manitoba. St. Andrews has a population of 30,000 and has a very rapid rate of growth. All places not included in the metro population of Winnipeg (700,000). Metro does not mean NHL market area.

Here's a question:

Without complicating it by building in pricing sections, win-loss records, weekday vs. weekend games, etc...

How many NHL games would you attend if Winnipeg got a team back?

I would probably attend 10-15.

I would spend between $500 to $1000 a year on NHL tickets.

That's actually a good way to consider it ($ spent/year). I spend roughly $550 a season on the Bombers. So, perhaps a bit more on NHL. Given that, I'd probably be closer to 10 games (in the upper deck).

Slightly related, but I'm thinking it'd be much easier to get around TV local blackouts of NHL games, than CFL.

Is it because of my incredible powers of using sound reasoning to come to a conclusion that you suspect this?

Given my current financial situation, I'd spend up to $800 / ticket (My wife and I will likely get 1 each). So, that'd probably get us a decent seated mini-pack (200-level behind goal lines or 300 level between goal lines).

I find I have many scheduling conflicts with even the Moose season schedule, and I don't even have kids yet. Of course, if the NHL were here, I'd place it as high as my wife would let me on the priority list .

It's your tone buddy; your self-righteous tone.

Maybe if you weren't so full of yourself you'd understand my comment.

Get over it. There is no tone. Sorry, but the truth hurts.

Easy.

The Green Bay Packers have had a loyal fan base filling the seats of Lambeau Field since 1957.

Had the Winnipeg Jets sold out an 18,000-20,000 seat arena every year, they would still be in Winnipeg.

Pretty much every Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers game is televised.

I think Calgary only has 2 games that aren't going to be televised this season and 10 of them will be PPV. All of the other games are either on CBC, TSN or Sportsnet West.

There aren't any blackouts.

On a side note, the Edmonton-Detroit game was blacked out on Thursday.

Winnipeg getting an NHL team depends on a lot. It depends mostly on whether the NHL wants to pursue another team here. Never mind the economic climate (which is probably the best time to pursue a team).

The NHL still has its sights set on the expansion towards a big US TV contract and Winnipeg will never be apart of that. With Vegas, Seattle and Kansas City still in the mix, and with the current NHL desires, Winnipeg won't get a team.

At this point, if Winnipeg were to get a team it's only because there's a buyer, and all the US cities have been exhausted.

OT: 1ajs, it's fairly easy to write and have your post spell-checked, how do you still manage to spell like a 2nd grader? I'd don't mean to call you out, since I know people who have the same difficulties.

No. It was on PPV. It was also the 120th straight sell out.

Every single Oiler game is on TV this year, including some exhibition games.
