Cannot see down into the excavation but there are trucks there every day from companies who do these sorts of things. But I have no idea how close they are to setting up the crane.

I walked by yesterday, it's fairly deep, and they have a few mounds of dirt heaped in the middle. They've done quite a bit of extra bracing near the bottom as well, so definitely looks like they've been working away at it.

Rathore reassured potential buyers the project would be done.
"We've gotten more work done in the first 18 months than the previous owners had gotten done in about a decade," he said.

dont blame fortress they actually move projects forward....

They are moving 10x slower since they took over than any other development in the city.

A benefit of picking up this project... it's impossible for the bar being set lower.

What does Fortress want - a participation medal? Get the effing job done... we're not giving you a parade for doing a marginally less sh!tty job than the clowns before you.

i went to fortress site for projects---not too shabby, they have done well. ended up clicking on capital pointe, and they had some updates, one of then being a 6 week permit application or something like that in january. they are on track to completing this project, but yes...at snail pace.

the permits IMO shouldve been taken care of prior to this? im one of those guys where i like to have it all stamped and approved before i do the work. i dont work in construction....so my opinions hold no value...(if someone can educate me) but thats just my take on it. this project is getting done as it seems, but i agree...why so long for permits and why so slow?

^Haha. We've only missed every date we've put out there by a factor of three or maybe four or maybe five.

I'm okay with them moving slow. Just stop telling us you're moving fast.

Not sure how much of this is new information:

http://ici.radio-canada.ca/nouvelle/...e-condo-regina

Translated article:

Further delays in the construction of the Capital Pointe project

The construction of the Capital Pointe condominium project in downtown Regina continues to accumulate delays.

In a message sent to Radio-Canada, Nick Circosta, Vice President of Special Projects at Fortress Real Development, explains the delays, including the excavation of the remains of the old building on the site.

He says the workers worked for 60 days to analyze and remove the debris. Then there was another delay of 60 days because of the presence of a pipeline that was not included in the plans.

In addition, the power supply to the site by SaskPower was insufficient, according to Circosta. This prevented the crane on site from working.

The condominium project at 144 condominiums, on the corner of Victoria Avenue and Albert Street, has already experienced delays due to the sponsors' financial problems and the discovery of asbestos on the site.

A spokesman for the project said in 2015 that the 27-storey building was to be completed in 2018.

The company have delayed big time, but SaskPower and SaskEnergy do bear legitimate blame.

Nope... sorry... not buying it. SaskPower & SaskEnergy were done their work in October 2013... THREE and a HALF years ago. And the delays leading up to SP & SE starting work were 90% Westgate & BrightStar's fault (as for the Radio-Canada reference above to SaskPower's power supply to the site being insufficient... really? The developer's not responsible at all for the specifications? Really? Bullsh!t. I expect better excuses from my child).

October 2013 to today = plenty of time to get the construction under way (likely finished).

Where are we? Fortress is asking us to be happy that they've dug a hole more quickly than the previous idiots.

Responsibility rests with the developers.

Maybe something was lost in the translation into French and the re-translation into English.
