More filler is needed on the Brooklyn waterfront as seen in post #3742. From the view at Rockaway, it will appear as one continuous skyline. Midtown and Downtown are starting to fuse. While the East/West Village have the height caps, without encroaching on those neighborhoods, the boom along the waterfront land in Brooklyn/Queens is giving the effect of an elongated skyline. Especially expanding the Midtown feel further South.

What's more...From that angle, 45 Broad and 80 South will give DT somewhat of a bookend effect to the WTC centerpiece.

I was in the City yesterday in the area. Since the quickest route I was taking involved passing Hudson Yards, I took some iPhone camera pictures while walking by. This was the first time I'd seen the towers in-person from street level, and 30HY (especially with the part jutting out from the base) unmistakably had a formidable presence over the whole complex.

Thank you Saturnian1 for the update.
This tower really takes me back to the construction of Bank of America Tower.

It will make a huge impact on the skyline (it already does )

I'm looking forward to visit the observation deck on this one!

It is crazy to think about that soon Manhattan will have observation decks on Empire State Building, Top of the Rock, 1 WTC, 30 Hudson Yards and 1 Vanderbilt, making it 5 in total.
I hope there will be some kind of pass or discount if one wants to visit them all, I know I will!

I can't help but wish they built 10HY 200ft taller. The difference between 10 & 30 is a bit too much for the pair to look balanced.

I don't know- the current angle of the slope isn't as steep as the top of 10HY... I thought the top parts were identical in steepness.

I think what we are seeing is the middle part of the roof triangle, so in that case this wouldn't be topped out yet- look at the roof of 10HY in the above photo to see what I mean

Not quite topped out yet. What we're seeing is the beginning construction of the crown.
