Why do you have to do this to us Harry? Get me all excited to see thread bump and then immediately let down with a picture of trees and a hole.

Then again, it's only a matter of time until you totally redeem yourself with a glorious photo of a Case rig next to that hole.

^By that time, Harry will have amassed enough shots from the same angle to make a 10 year time lapse of the site documenting the birth and death of the Chicago Spire, the construction of 435 & 465 N. Park, and perhaps both Optima towers while saplings turned to trees until finally heavy machinery returns. That would be a kickass video

A large Grove mobile crane was unloaded on site this morning around 9:30. There were a few other trucks around too. Does anyone know why?

That's probably it, they are supposed to be dropping in some sections of the flyover bridge before the end of the year.

Not a bad concept but I like the SOM design we're getting better.

considering that that the taller of the two towers would stand ~1,100 tall and would be the 6th tallest building ever built in the entire history of the city, i fail to see how that could be construed as "lame" by chicago standards.

Beautiful ... this tower is perfect for New York (Hudson Yards). The tallest tower how many million square feet has?

Wow that's actually beautiful! I love the tetris look and it looks perfect in that skyline shot.

Meh, the height is great, but that design is vastly inferior to the SOM design(assuming we get the terracotta). Not losing sleep over that

I like the height of that old proposed design, but agree with most people here that the current design is the superior one.
