I was by the site today (to take pictures of the Laurel) and there is no work going on. The grassy lot facing Walnut is still there and the parking lot at 20th & Sansom is also still there and was full of cars.

So what is the actual Height of this tower? Is is 565 as indicated here on Page 1, or 599 as indicated in the Inqy article?

The lag time (at least a few weeks) between the groundbreaking ceremony and actual work commencing is very common. I don't know why developers choose to the hold the ceremonies so far in advance of the real work beginning, but there must be a good reason (perhaps the need to coordinate schedules of all the VIPs?) because it happens all the time. But I'd imagine it would be super embarrassing to have all these dignitaries at a groundbreaking ceremony only to not have the project get off the ground within a short amount of time, so I can't imagine this not happening within the next few weeks.

Guys, take it easy! Are you investors, do you have a dog in this race? I'm tired of seeing that grass lot too but they're going to build it. Money has been spent, parties attended, ribbons cut. Perhaps they are waiting for, "The Harper," right behind it to move some equipment out of the way. Those are some very narrow busy streets they have to work with. It's a huge project with very little space. We will have a lot to talk about and pictures to view during the construction. Fall back...chill.

Don't know if this has been posted before, but this showed up on site.

By the way, as I examined the site for signs of construction, I was accosted by an older woman who ranted about how "obnoxious" it is to build this, and that she was going to organize a protest of homeless people against this building. In my experience, the right thing to do is play along with people like that, especially when you won't see them again.

First pieces of large equipment arrived today and parking lot has been fully cleared off. Perimeter fencing is being assembled. Assume they’ll pull up asphalt and start digging here pretty shortly.

Gonna be sweet to watch since CTC is unwinding in its exterior construction.

FINALLT!!! Such a long time coming. This and the empty lot at 1919 Market were the two most offensive lots in the city. To see them both filled in the same boom is nothing short of glorious.

This is such a fantastic tower. Pumped it’s happening. Cool to see this and the Harper under construction right next to each other. What a transformation for this stretch of Samson Street.

I am not sure .... so don't crucify me but , didn't this tower start out at somewhere around 525' ??
Now I read where if has grown to 599' . An additional 74' is quite a leap and if that is affordable , another
two feet i.e. 601 ' is not ?

I mention this only out of curiosity because there seems to be a curse on building anything between 600 and 699'
other than the old blue cross building in Philly ...... So WTF ??

This was changed to 599' in the CDR proposal. Probably has something to do with height limits in the area.
