Nice design. Why don't they just cross the 1,000 feet threshold since it's already close.

Its an ideal mixed-used for the area (Res,Hotel for the most part). This sounds like it has a great chance to rise. Right next to the World Center development. UDRB will most likely approve this, the design is stellar.

Looks good - I'm not familiar with the area, but what kind of change may this tower bring about. The immediate surroundings look ripe for intensification?

I was thinking the same thing about the location. That area looks rough, - I'm so used to seeing the Freedom Tower from skyline views from the bay, so I had no idea the area behind it was so empty - and perhaps this could change that? It looks out of place, but the actual tower is stunning.

Not for long. It will be among many developments, particularly, World Center which is the 2nd largest development in the U.S., right ater Hudson Yards. Currently u/c.

See below: This project relative to the 20+ mil-sqft behemoth called World Center.

Parcels to the North will be developed in time. Lots planned!

Miami is poised for a NYC-scale skyscraper construction boom. The ball just needs to get rolling. So many proposals, pretty much none U/C
Panorama is almost complete and 1000 Museum, Flatiron and Paramount are rising slowly- none of which of course are supertalls. I think that's it currently for the Downtown-Brickell area.

I love it. Reminds me a little bit of the proposal for Namaste Tower in Mumbai a few years back. Different inspiration and execution altogether, but a very similar form and massing.

The whole region is booming. Dozens of cranes. I think you might be referring to the 12+ super tall proposals, and as of now, we are not seeing them rise. I believe 2 by 2020 will be seeing steel if all goes well. But in the 400-700 ft range, a ton is in the works (both pipeline, with good odds of rising, and site prep/demo. The previous cycle's tower mania is seeing completion, and a whole new slew of towers is set to rise. Not just in Miami, but in its proxies like Sunny Isles.

Just for an idea: (With working thread links)

Not all u/c, but some...

MIAMI | 700 NE 23 Street (Elysee) | 644 FT | 57 FLOORS

MIAMI | Brickell Flatiron | 734 FT | 65 FLOORS

MIAMI | 1000 Museum | 706 FT | 60 FLOORS (Zaha Hadid)

World Center is 20+ mil-sq ft.

MIAMI | World Center

MIAMI | Vice | 354 FT | 31 FLOORS

MIAMI | Paraiso Bay Development | 600 + (550 x2) + 500 FT | (55 x2) + 53 + 44 FLOORS

MIAMI | Paramount World Center | 699 FT / 213 M | 55 FL

MIAMI | Canvas | 122 M / 400 FT | 36 FLOORS

MIAMI | Echo Brickell | 750 FT | 60 FLOORS

MIAMI (Sunny Isles) | Giorgio Armani’s Armani/Casa | 640 FT | 60 FLOORS

MIAMI | (Sunny Isles Beach) - Muse | 649 FT | 49 FLOORS

MIAMI | SLS Lux | 595 FEET | 57 FLOORS

MIAMI | The Harbour | 2 x 340 FT | 2 x 32 FLOORS

MIAMI | Met Square | 438 FT | 34 FLOORS

Then you have one like this:

MIAMI | SoLeMia (4390 Units) | 16 x 25 FLOORS | FT | 25 x (10-14 FLOORS) | FT

Which is u/c.

Lots of action, 2nd to NYC.

I nitpicked some of the u/c choices above. But the ones in the pipeline, which 2018/2019 will be the golden era, with a lot that have a good % of pre sales going, will see action.

Board Votes In Favor Of 73-Story Tower Planned By Turkish Developer

Quote:
Miami’s UDRB voted October 6 to recommend approval of The Sterling, a 73-story mixed-use tower proposed by Turkish developer Okan Group.

The proposal is of enough significance to Turkey that the country’s consul general in Miami attended the meeting, according to Miami Today. Turkey’s national flower is the Tulip, which inspired the shape of the building.

Near the top of the tower, there will be a restaurant on the 68th floor open to the public.

The upper levels will have 363 high-end condo units, with a private amenity level. Residents will have access to an exclusive pool deck with a large arch on the top floor.

On the lower floors, a 300-room five star hotel with meeting space is planned.

Behar Font & Partners is the architect.

Also at the meeting, a 43-story hotel proposed by Mandala Holdings was approved, although board members complained about the lack of parking.

Never let it be said that skyscrapers can't be a diplomatic leveraging tool used to strengthen ties of international brotherhood...
BTW I can see a lot more of a tulip-motive here than I can with the 600'+ Turkish consulate tower set to rise in NYC.

Demolition About To Begin At Site Of 73-Story Tower

Quote:
Demolition is about to begin at the site where Turkish developer Okan Group plans a 73-story tower, just one month after it was approved by the Urban Development Review Board.

On October 25, Miami officials approved a permit for total demolition at the 35,995 square foot site. Thunder Demolition is listed as the contractor, with an estimated cost of $42,000.

The contractor also filed for a permit to remove 26 trees on October 31. That request remains pending review by Environmental Resources.

The address of the owner is shared by Okan International University in Dania Beach.

Looks like it which is great news. This and Melo's project seem to be on the right track. One a near-supertall and the other a solid supertall.
