Have you checked out Edition and the Equinox one will be an interesting brand to watch

I guess since Starwood and Marriot joined its going to be interesting to see how they expand brands going forward. Clearly Ritz and St Regis are the same type of brand so not sure how they would benefit from having both in a market currently without both.

I've been to two EDITION properties. I don't think a St Regis would survive with a Ritz & Four Seasons here.

I can't stand the hard rock brand. One of the most most overrated, overpriced brands out there. Just me though!

Some good news on the economic front! A freight brokerage company will be opening an office in the CBD -- they list their new office address as the 20th floor of the Exchange Centre on their website.

http://www.areadevelopment.com/newsI...ouisiana.shtml

Also, local startup success story Lucid just went through a round of fundraising with plans to expand locally and globally -- they've really grown a lot in the last couple years alone. Hope they keep renting more space out over at Canal Place. Also hope more tech offices open in New Orleans and pressure some of these local guys to boost their salaries. Most local companies are paying people 20-30% below national averages for high-demand tech positions, resulting in lots of turnover and brain drain.

On the Hotel front I think a Mandarin Oriental would be great. Maybe as the city continues to grow and prosper and more wealthy folks start to come in. That could be great. Fantastic hotel brand.

I'm just hoping all those parking lots along Loyola can become high rises. I think the lot along poydras in front of the paramount building would be the next perfect addition for either some of these hotels or residential.

S. Rampart from Gravier to Poydras has a lot of potential now that there are some anchors in the Troubadour hotel and Pythian Building. Plenty of lots for another SMD-style development

Or leased out as doctor/dentist offices. It's ridiculous that it's just sitting there!

I suspect Standard will enter the market via Liz Lambert's Bunkhouse Group (Hotel San Jose, Austin Motel and Hotel St. Cecilia in Austin, and El Cosmico in Marfa). Standard International bought 51% of Bunkhouse in 2015.

Lambert has already hinted they have sights on NOLA, Nashville, Portland. Based on their model, I suspect they'll pick up a failed historic property (like the St. Vincent's Guest House).

Skift: Can either of you name any specific new destinations you’re looking at, beyond London and Mexico?

Lambert: We’re continually looking and interested in a lot of places, like New Orleans and Nashville, and maybe Portland. Some people might call them secondary markets, but for us they’re places with a story, and with history, and they’re places that interest me to travel to.

I'd also love to see more boutique options such as The James, or NoMad/Freehand by Sydell Group, or something by Mexican hotelier Grupo Habita. Grupo Habita is on a huge U.S. expansion and just opened The Robey in Chicago.
