IF anything, drop the "Palace Station" name, Reclad the old tower to be more modern, drop the theme or come up with something new.... And if they must keep the train station type theme, At least make it a modern day/European bullet train type theme or something. I think the juxtaposition of the old and the new is just too much.

I had no idea that its only 32 years old ! I thought it was at least 60 ! it looks so old and rundown on the inside.

I hope they don't ruin the original design. Most of what gets remodeled in Vegas ends up really bland. Are they keeping the original Neon on the existing tower and neon sign facing the freeway?

I agree it needs a facelift but they are more likely to go with something bland. I would like to see the Flamingo go with an Art Deco Miami Beach theme with a lot of pink neon.

^^^ In all honesty, I hate neon lighting. BUT, I actually think with the current look of the Flamingo, Neon lighting would actually work in her favor, i also think that the blank stucco walls on the exterior deserve some form of murals or something. With the gambling area, I think it deserves a solid theme, 80s-90s Miami would work well. I know security doesn't like to clutter the gambling areas on the Casino floors but I think it can still be done the right way.

I think it would also be smart for the Vegas Casinos to request that their slots and tables be themed with the resort they are currently in. MGM would KILL with a bunch of movie/entertainment themed slots and tables. Luxor would kill with Egyptian style tables and slots and so on. Another snag with Vegas was the fact that the buildings have a certain theme but the gambling areas have all become the same over the years. Same tables. Same Slots. Same staff with the same generic outfits and even the shows and clubs have become generically the same.

I remember as a kid, walking into Luxor a few years after she opened and seeing dudes walking around in Egyptian attire, most of the slots were egyptian themed, the men and women at the checkin in had on Egyptian attire and the people working the tables had on Egyptian attire. Didnt last long but seeing that was like WHOA...... Now its blah. I shouldnt see a beetle juice or Willy wonka slot in the middle of the LUXOR.

And can somebody please cancel Carrot Top. He wasn't funny in the 90s and he REALLY isn't funny now.

I know there are tons of people who hate Las Vegas for it's hyper comercialism, but if your a fan of Vegas, without Neon it would be just any other city with a few theme parks and resort hotels thrown in.

Wise old saying: Water will always rise to $$$! Desert-like Israel is a good example of that!

And in lieu of the Station Casino owners (Fertitti Brothers?) expanding the Palace Station, why don't they spend that money on buying the Fountainbleu tower from Icahn on the Strip. I did hear a rumor that the Fertitti brothers are considering buying it. Anyone else hear that? Yes, a massive Stations Casino on the Strip!

Wynn Resorts board gives nod for $1.5 billion lagoon-theme park in Las Vegas, stock pops 4% on earnings beat

Quote:
The casino mogul said Tuesday the park will feature a "20-odd acre lagoon in the middle of it and then we would build our meeting space, leave room for our new tower that could be a couple of thousand rooms."

Here are some more details:

Las Vegas Review Journal:

"The aim is to appeal not just to the lucrative convention market but to families by offering a Disney-like park attraction off the Las Vegas Strip. Last year, the CEO indicated the waterfront would feature cabanas, new restaurants and the lagoon would have "a great show like they have at Disneyland only bigger."

Quotes from Wynn:

“These islands in the turquoise lagoon will be like Hawaii, with tall peaks and white sand beaches,” Wynn said in the report. “There are no beaches in Vegas and this will be irresistible. Then you have to think, if people come to the island for the beaches, you need a restaurant, so we will build a restaurant on top, and people can zip line to the island, or take a gondola car to the peak for dinner. There will be water shows every day and fireworks every night.”

“And on the second peak, we will have an eight-story-tall Kong who will make an appearance every day before the water shows. He will be articulated to turn 360 degrees and will have a 50-foot arm spread, and in his left hand he will hold a girl. He will have animated eyes and a big sound. Millions of people come to Vegas each year and we know they will come to see this. The question is, how much will they pay?”

Bionic bartenders deployed at Las Vegas Strip bar: But can you bend their ear?

https://lasvegassun.com/news/2017/ju...gas-strip-bar/

Quote:
Tipsy Robot, a 2,500-square-foot bar to open Friday at the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood, boasts two robotic bartenders ready to make your favorite concoction any way you like.

Looking to gain a step on other major nightlife cities in the U.S., owner Rino Armeni decided to open the first permanent robotic bar in Las Vegas.

Resorts World updates....

Resorts World Update: Facade in Progress

Quote:
Part of the Resorts World facade is rising above the Strip.

A very welcomed discovery by our friend and eye in the sky, Sean at Sky Las Vegas yesterday as the curtain wall for Resorts World is getting a test run in the sun. We do not know for sure if this is a test or if the rest will be put in place soon, but we guess this is a test. Why? Well, the pieces presently installed were the only ones delivered thus far by Enclos, a company specializing in building facades. Enclos is responsible for the curtain wall of many Las Vegas resorts such as Aria, Encore, The Palms, Wynn, The Venetian, Wynn, and MGM Grand amongst others.

Finally, the first crane arrives at Resorts World Las Vegas.

It was just a matter of time, and now another big step has happened in the construction at Resorts World with the arrival of the first crane. Yesterday morning, the pieces arrived and our eye in the sky, Sean at Sky Las Vegas, sent us these pics:

Demo is underway (if not completed already). Fun Fact: One of the demolished wings was home to room 1203, where the O.J. Simpson robbery took place.

Pics from VitalVegas (more at the link above):

^Under construction as per SSP guidelines???? (Compare to top rendering in Urbannizer's post)

Almost a decade after it started construction, the biggest unfinished eyesore in Vegas history will soon restart construction. Carl Icahn has sold Fountainebleau to New York-based developer Steven Witkoff and his investment partners. Steven is optimistic about the project. Shouldn't take long to complete since its already around 80% complete with the hard part out of the way.

If i were to guess. It should be done, finally, in a few years. if even that.

My question is....Its always been an....Odd....concept. Goes against the typical Vegas X/Y/curved casino tower design. And its kinda tall and right up against the strip....So what kind of theme could they possibly have for it? or will it be another City Center boring idea?
