Wow! Denver really deserves something of this magnitude! Hope it works out. What a sexy, big shouldered building. LOVE it.

Denver to get a new city-tallest and mountain west tallest! KUSA 9 Mews reports that a 75-story skyscraper will be erected on California and be approximately 800 feet tall -- a bit squatty for that many floors. Great news for an awesome city!!

If approved by the city, this proposed 90-story structure would be the tallest building in Denver
Building not yet in city’s review pipeline but developer says it is ‘100 percent going forward’

By JOE RUBINO | jrubino@denverpost.com | The Denver Post
PUBLISHED: September 28, 2017 at 6:00 am | UPDATED: September 28, 2017 at 9:09 am

Greenwich Realty Capital on Wednesday released details for a 90-story high-rise it plans to construct at 650 17th St., in the heart of Denver’s central business district. The mixed-use structure, Six Fifty 17, would be greater than 1 million square feet in size. It would feature 284 luxury condos, a hotel, 22,000 square feet of retail space and 500 parking spots.

Greenwich co-founder and managing partner Michael Ursini said the structure would be 1,000 feet tall, which is 286 feet taller than Denver’s current loftiest structure, the 714-foot, 56-story Republic Plaza, 370 17th St.

WOW! Great design.

However, are construction costs in Colorado dirt cheap? $400 million for a 90-story, 1 million SF point tower seems really low!

Reported costs can mean anything. For example, land, design fees, finance costs, third-party buildouts (office TIs), and other elements can be included or not. Some developers even publicize totally BS numbers to make the project seem prestigious.

Also nobody can accurately predict costs with design barely started, and a year before they buy out the major subcontracts.

..............

Who would know at this point in time whether or not Denver's new proposed 'supertall' aka Six Fifty 17 will evah get built or not... but developer says that he's going forward 100%. But that's just what the developer says.

Definitely would be an excellent addition to the Denver skyline.......

That super tall would be a game changer for the entire west. Hope it gets built because it would put pressure on all the other cities competing with Denver.

I love the proposal. However, I'm curious as to who you think is "competing with Denver?"

Denver Skyline by bucksfan86, on Flickr

Visited this weekend for the Rock 'N' Roll Marathon and I must say, you guys got it going on in Denver. I thought we had a good thing going in Milwaukee but damn, I'm super jealous of what you guys are doing. Awesome city.
