My house is right around the corner from Three Alliance Center so I see it almost daily. I had high hopes for this project, but when you see the faceted glass exterior up close there is nothing architecturally appealing about it. The windows looked damaged or unfinished. Far away it does look OK.

Not entirely accurate. Most of the condo high-rises are storefront style glass; Especially all the novare ones.

If it's a high-rise it's usually a window-wall or curtain wall system. Storefront is sometimes categorized under the "window-wall" umbrella definition but it's not engineered to sustain high winds and has lower tolerances/limits on deflection than window-wall systems and is usually limited to 10-12 foot height spans.

Many cheaper storefront systems don't even have thermal breaks and/or leak because they're intended to be covered/recessed (a la strip malls).

Three Alliance looked awesome in today's light. It has a very strong presence on the skyline.

I may have just caught it in an odd light the other day.

I was honestly hoping for more density on this site.

That looks excellent, the Midtown neighborhood needs more of this, particularly as it works towards Downtown. Hopefully it's close to the rendering.

The state budget Gov Deal signed this morning includes $105 million for the new judicial center. It will be the most expensive government building in state history. Unclear if the budget includes funding for a re-do of the interstate cap. Construction scheduled to start in July and finish in Spring 2019.

"...cost-saving measures such as using precast concrete instead of stone on the outside and composite mixed materials instead of marble on the inside. The building will also have a pull-through area for drop-off and pickup, which could come in handy since it doesn't yet have public parking planned. Secured parking underneath the building will be for judges only, Stancil said. He added that he still hopes to find more parking options for visitors."

So food halls have become the next thing that will be grossly over saturated in the retail market. smh

On Alexan 880, I'm glad its only 22 floors.
