America Builders Quarterly has a good piece on the design of the new Citrix headquarters in Raleigh's warehouse district. The building is a renovated warehouse and include reused shipping containers in the interior.

Link apartments to begin construction in Raleigh:

From Raleigh DLA:

Quote:
Scheduled for completion in the spring of next year, the 204-unit apartment building will be located across from the 42nd Street Oyster Bar at the corner of West & Jones Streets.

Already the most densely populated neighborhood in the city, Link apartments together with The Devon (under construction at 425 Boylan Avenue) will add another 700+ residents to the Glenwood South.

Skyhouse has topped out:

Here is a rendering that shows the office tower that is planned for the lot next to Skyhouse. No updated timeline has been given on when it will break ground.

New rendering of The Edison tower plans that are being reviewed by the planning commission. The tower is going to be taller than initially planned, now at 274 ft (83.5m) to the roof (not counting the mechanical level).

Skyhouse Raleigh construction update. The newly submitted plans for the Edison office tower show it will be taller than Skyhouse. It will be just to the left of Skyhouse in this image, between Skyhouse and the PNC tower, and perhaps as tall as the setback in the PNC tower.

Here's a photo of the Charter Square South tower going up. It will be 11 floors I think. There are plans for a second tower between it and the brick one on the left that could be up to 20 floors.

Great shot of the skyline. You can see where Charter Square South is going up on the right:

Looks like the new Residence Inn has been scaled back to 9 stories from the originally planned 11. Oh well, something is better than nothing.

I think the new renderings look a lot better than the original ones, which looked like an even cheaper version of the Marriott hotel:

Also, some new renderings of the 2nd tower at North Hills have been released by Duda/Paine Architects:

Yeah, I agree the design looks better. It's still frustrating when Raleigh keeps scaling projects back. The original Edison design was a crusher, but again, something is better than nothing. I'd prefer low to mid rise neighborhoods with a good walkable feel vs a few blocks of supertalls that are basically empty after 5pm. Either way, that was a small parcel to work with so I think the result will be a win. I think Raleigh is on its way though and these current projects are sort of "testing the waters" so to speak. I think Raleigh is about to experience a huge vertical growth in the next 5-10 years, should be fun to watch. The residential growth in Glenwood alone is going to be ridiculous.

I also live near North Hills so I'll be posting updates of the new tower as it rises.

I agree. I'm glad the new renderings of the Edison office tower are taller than the previous plans, now putting it at 274 ft not counting the mechanical floor.

Also, Charter Square North has been mentioned to be around 20 floors but there's nothing official on that yet.

Updated photo of Skyhouse. You can see the lot is cleared and work has begun on the Edison 7 floor apartments in the bottom right corner:

Yeah, they're not wasting a whole bunch of time with that block. I've been watching Skyhouse go up from street level. It's crazy how fast they can throw those things together. You can also see the Lincoln starting up over in "Emo". I thought that apartment block was initially slated to be 8 stories but the latest renderings I've seen show it to be 4 stories. Still cool though!
