Welcome to v7.3 (Sept 2018) of the Chicago High-rise Boom thread. - Here’s a link to the previous version of this page: CHICAGO: boom rundown - everything over 12 floors. v6

After a prolonged dip in development and construction during the leanest years of the Global Recession, the construction boom is back in full effect - while clearly not (yet) as prolific as the early 2000s, highrise activity has picked up considerably since 2013. Click on the individual building names to be taken to the corresponding Phorio building page to learn more and see pics/renderings. You can also click on the word “website” at the end of each building entry line in the list to be taken to the official project website to learn even more and for developer/marketing contact information. The buildings are ranked according to the structural height per the guidelines of Phorio. Where no roof height is listed, it is either unknown or the structural height and the roof height are one and the same.

A couple of quick notes on version 7:

- The 'Recently Completed' list will primarily reflect the new construction boom - the previous list is still accessible in version 6 of this rundown.

- Individual skyscraper thread links have been moved to the bottom of the rundown and will be updated to reflect current construction projects, plus new and forthcoming proposals.

- the 'Proposed' section of renderings has a status next to each project, whether they are 'Active' or 'Dormant' proposals. Any dormant proposals that are cancelled will be removed from the Boom rundown.

Please feel free send a private message or directed post in the thread for any updates or modifications to the page 1 list. A concerted effort will be made to make sure page 1 is always up to date. Many thanks to all of the contributors, custodians and photographers of this thread among others, for all of your painstaking work in showcasing Chicago's beautiful skyline.

Also 1333 S Wabash should be listed as U/C, the foundations are already in the ground and they are clearly excavating them and prepping to form the mat.

Also, has anyone driven by 750 N Hudson recently? They closed their loan a week or two ago so they should have shovels in the ground (unless of course they are in permit hell, but they usually don't close loans until the permit has been issued).

Thanks for picking up the mantle, it is certainly a big project to take on, it is much appreciated

A couple things I noticed…

This guy is missing from the thread title, he is usually a part of all the Chicago threads

Hyatt Place in the loop is done, and has been operating for several weeks.

I believe gateway tower is all wrapped up now too.

I would be strongly in favor of keeping the recently completed projects list. It ads context to boom and as someone in the last version noted, it serves as a nice archive of what has been completed in recent years.

So I moved the following to U/C:

Edit: 'Recently Completed' list re-added towards end of rundown, with new additions only as they are completed, moving forward:

Also, answered my own question earlier, 750 N Hudson is in site prep with three excavators ripping up the parking lot. I imagine it is only a matter of weeks before the cassion rigs show up.

FYI, rendering for 61 Erie is incorrect (the drawing for 162 W Superior is shown for its entry).

^^^I saw that, but are we sure this one is different from 915 N Orleans, for which we already have an entry? Or is it the same project with an address snafu and a slightly modified design? Hmmmmm...
