I just updated my list of new towers for Downtown Dallas (post #37) to reflect recent activity.

The 30 story Katy Station was moved from "Groundbreaking Imminent" to "Under Construction" with the recent level of activity now occurring on the construction site. And I've moved the 23 story 1900 Pearl ("Symphony" tower) from "Planned" to "Groundbreaking Imminent" based on the just published FAA schedule showing construction starting on Sep. 25, 2015.

On 09-08-15 I added proposed 70 story and 60 story Pacific Plaza residential towers by Sarimsakci Development to the "Planned" towers list as I had inadvertantly omitted them previously.

On 09-08-15 I added a new ~16 story office tower recently announced for the Dallas Design District (1640 Edison) to the "Planned" towers.

On 09-10-15 I added a new 39 story mixed use tower recently announced for the corner of Field Street and Woodall Rodgers Expressway (South Asian Museum tower), to the "Planned" towers.

On 09-17-15 the 25 story Skyhouse Victory Place residential tower was moved from "Groundbreaking Imminent" to "Under Construction" with that project now starting construction.

On 09-27-15 the 23 story "2921 Lemmon Ave." mixed use tower (hotel and residential) was added to the "Planned" towers list with permits having been filed with the City of Dallas for the tower's construction.

On 10-20-15 I added the 12 story 1920 McKinney office tower to the "Under Construction" list as it had been erroneously omitted.

On 10-21-15 I added an approximately 15 story mixed use tower, "Union Bankers Life" in Deep Ellum, to the "Planned" towers list.

On 12-11-15 the 23 story "M" Line Streetlights residential tower was moved from "Planned" to "Under Construction", the twin 17 story residential towers, The Case Building, was moved from "Planned" to "Under Construction", the "Pearl", a 14 story residential tower, was added to "Planned" and the 8 story Gables/Whole Foods residential tower was added to "Under Construction" as it had been previously omitted.

On 12-16-15 the 25 story 1900 Pearl ("Symphony" Arts District office tower) was moved from "Groundbreakings Imminent" to "Under Construction" and the 17 story Virgin Hotel was moved from "Planned" to "Groundbreakings Imminent".

On 12-30-15 the 20 story "Ltd Edition 2505" residential tower was moved from "Planned" to "Groundbreakings Imminent" with the recent ground work occurring at the construction site (construction fence has gone up) and an approximate 20 story office tower was added to "Planned" for the Trinity Groves District.

On 01-12-16 the 24 story "Cinepolis" tower was moved from "Groundbreakings Imminent" to "Under Construction" with the construction fence up and bulldozers clearing the land.

On 01-13-16 the 25 story "Commune & Ilume" mixed use tower (residential & hotel) was added to "Planned".

On 01-15-16 the 34 story Residences at Park District residential tower and its companion 20 story Park District office tower were moved from "Groundbreakings Imminent" to "Under Construction" with the project's formal ground breaking occurring today.

On 02-10-16 added a new ~25 story Perot office tower located at Cedar Springs & Dickson to "Groundbreakings Imminent" with a planned start in Sep. 2016.

On 02-19-16 added "Alexan Katy Trail", a 15 story residential tower, to "Groundbreakings Imminent".

On 02-26-16 added a 42 story mixed use tower planned for next to Dallas City Hall by Sarimsacki Development to "Planned".

On 02-27-16 added a 16 story office tower, 3015 Cedar Springs, to "Planned".

On 03-15-16 added a 22 story residential tower by Greenway Investments located at Cedar Springs and Fairmount to "Planned".

On 03-19-16 added the 23 story and 9 story CityPlace mixed use towers (23 story residential & 9 story hotel), located at Blackburn and Central Expwy, to "Under Construction".

On 03-22-16 moved the twin towers for the Union Dallas development from "Groundbreakings Imminent" to "Under Construction" with site work now underway for the project.

On 04-07-16 added to "Planned" twin 20 story mixed use towers by Greenway/Cedar Springs L.P. located at 2808 Fairmount and a 20 story residential tower by Fairfield Residential located at Hi Line & Turtle Creek.

On 04-13-16 added to "Planned" a 22 story residential tower by Crescent Communities located at 2007 Randall Street.

On 05-16-16 added to "Planned" a 13 story residential tower by Greystar in the City Lights project on Live Oak Street.

On 06-06-16 added to "Planned" a 40 story residential tower by Amli Residential at Field Street and Munger Avenue.

As of 06-06-16, the count of new towers "Under Construction" in Downtown Dallas remains at 28, the count of towers with "Groundbreakings Imminent" remains at 8, and the count of towers "Planned" increases from 44 to 45.

Downtown Dallas to become home to Texas' tallest supertalls?

The Dallas Metropolis website is atwitter with excitement as more details emerge on Harwood International's recently unveiled Harwood Forum complex development. More specifically the tall twin towers joined by a skybridge.

Harwood published on 08-26-15 the height for its twin towers at 1080 feet.

Texas' current tallest supertall is 1002' at 75 stories. Using the number of floors in the 1002' tall structure that would make Harwood Forum's towers 80-81 stories tall.

Yehaw! We'll all be watching this one with great excitement!

Here's the link to the FAA request for one (or both?) tower(s):

It's still early, but it seems like Harwood is serious about doing this!

Harwood International has provided information concerning their planned development known as "Harwood Forum" that the renderings represent.

The image I've posted below is of a large billboard that Harwood erected across from Cirque last summer that prominently announces "Harwood Forum" and that it is 3 million square feet of "build to suit residential, office, hotel, and retail".

And as we now know, Harwood Forum's location is literally across from Cirque and extends southward a block or two toward Woodall Rodgers Expressway.

At the time the billboard appeared in summer 2014 no one really understood what it meant. A poster on Dallas Metropolis very recently found the Harwood Forum renderings online and published them on the Dallas Metropolis site.

Then two days ago Harwood International filed formal notice with the FAA of the height of the two large twin towers as being 1,080 feet which further validates the billboard's announcement of a year ago. FAA formal filing link is provided in the post immediately above.

The dots have now connected and it is an incredible development that is on the near horizon and is apparently very serious. The Harwood Forum development will forever change not only the Downtown Dallas skyline but the urban fabric of the city.

Couple that with the fact that at this very moment 14 towers are under construction in the Downtown Dallas core, 8 more towers have groundbreakings that are imminent and another 34 towers are planned (of which Harwood Forum is included in that count). That list of the 56 towers appears above as well.

Absolutely stunning levels of development are occurring in Downtown Dallas and the central core. Dallas seems poised to literally soar.

Now that KPMG is built I created threads for the following:
The Tower at Hall Arts
The Residences at Hall Arts

According to the developer they will announce them this fall, but phase 3 will probably be first:

I don't think that has been released yet. The designs that have been released were just preliminary and I'm sure will change. We will just have to wait till fall to find out more details about it.

It appears to be closer to 400'...I counted roughly 35 floors.

For reference, the 18-story Hall Arts Center is 269'.

Dallas has plans for a 39-floor mixed-use building proposed by Pelli Clarke Pelli.

This project is the South Asian Museum and will be incorporated into the project.

From the City Council Meeting

Quote:
This project [...] is its chance for Dallas to announce its presence as an international city on the world stage, with a truly mixed-use building.

A building that will have five floors of the foundation of the cultural teaching spaces and galleries.

Above which are ten floors of office building in which an incubator by a tech company may start up.

And above that, 24 floors of residential.

We think these mixed-use vibrant buildings can be transformative in this city.

It gives the city a work, live, play environment all in a single structure.
Quote:
We feel that the building can be iconic, that it should be in fact a gateway announcing arrival into Dallas on Woodall Rogers.

We feel that the tower should take a form and shape that makes it a symbol of the vision and goals of this city as well as its aspirations.
Quote:
It creates a sustainable structure. One in which the economics of the housing and office will endow the museum so that it can always be open for eternity.
- William (Bill) Butler
Principal, Pelli Clarke Pelli
