Vaughan is really growing upwards fast... 55 floors should be around 175 - 180 metres, 20 metres taller even than the Icona proposal...

Great to see most of the Golden Horseshoe's nodes growing at a healthy clip. We'll probably end up with 15-20 significant clusters.

Bay Park Centre 81 + 141 Bay Street (54s-265m/870 feet, 49s-238m/780 feet, Ivanhoé Cambridge, Wilkinson Eyre)

..

CIBC to move 15,000 staff to new downtown Toronto headquarters
Canada’s fifth-largest bank is moving its headquarters south, anchoring two new towers that promise to redraw Toronto’s skyline and extend the Bay Street financial corridor.

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce will be the lead tenant in a forthcoming development, known today as Bay Park Centre, to begin construction this spring. The connected towers will rise 49 floors each at 81 and 141 Bay Street, facing Union Station and the Air Canada Centre and straddling the train tracks that traverse the downtown core. One building is scheduled to be finished in 2020, the other in 2023. The 2.9 million-square-foot complex, to be developed and jointly managed by Ivanhoé Cambridge and privately owned U.S. developer Hines Interests LP, is among the more ambitious new projects to break ground in Toronto in recent years. Designed by architects WilkinsonEyre and Adamson Associates, it will draw together roughly 15,000 CIBC employees from many of the bank’s 20-plus offices across Toronto, pushing a piece of the city’s financial heart closer to the lakeshore

^ Its the biggest office lease in Toronto since the 1990's. Its really big news.

This project also includes a new bus terminal for downtown, meaning the interregional buses can finally move from the hellhole that is the existing terminal up at Dundas.

Theatre District is back? At a slightly reduced height I see, just a bit lower than TIFF... will that be enough to get it Approved?

That is the approved plan. The revised plan is a result of an OMB settlement.

Looks promising. Nice to see some height on Jarvis, a street wide enough to allow for heavy pedestrian traffic one day. I'd love to see a Jarvis subway line 20-25 years from now. Once the eastern downtown intensifies we'll likely need one.

I live a couple blocks north of here. I was starting to wonder if intensification was ever going to reach Jarvis. It has huge potential to regain its place as one of Toronto's great streets.

It's already happening. There are two 50 storey buildings and a 30 storey building currently under construction just down the street at Jarvis and Dundas, and the recently completed 42 storey Pace Condo is also at that intersection.

True although I suspect this one will be a bigger test due to Allan Gardens. A 397m condo right on the southern end of Central Park doesn't seem to both Manhattanites but I bet they'll raise shadowing concerns here in Toronto.
