That Chris guy's last name does not sound at all like he could be with organized crime.

That's because that "Chris guy" is a woman. Not at all someone who is involved in organized crime. The name is pronounced June-Kill-E-Oni.

No, they didn't show any renderings, just all the parameters were approved. They did say it could open by 2011, and if that's the case, they'll probably come up with some renderings shortly after the new year and hopefully start construction by next summer.

According to this article it's not yet 100% certain that it will be twin towers and they might not build them at the same time if it is.

chris giunchigliani and the turnberry resident both hinted at two towers during the meeting so it seems the most likely (only??) outcome what with 5,000 rooms planned

i just hope we don't have another ivana fiasco and this thing actually gets built

interesting news about crown (i think that name is silly)

i herd on the news about the 2 million people mark was passed - thats great - i wonder if dec 2007 was the predicted date for that to happened or if we are slower/ fast on growth predictions.......what caught me by suprise was the news guy said that in 2010 (3 years away!) clark county will hit the THREE million person mark....is that right?!

Nah, 2010? that's a bit far fetched as growth is actually slowing.

2015 is what I've heard myself several times which is more likely, even with growth slowing.

The regional planning commission says 3.5 million by 2035, reflecting the slowdown.

As always major changes in economic and other factors can easily accelerate or slow the trend beyond what this prediction says.

1 million people in 3 years would assume on average 28,000 people moving into the valley each month, the figure stands at approx 6000-8000 at present

the news guys must have had it wrong - or he meant 3 million in NEVADA. who knows

fountainbleau it a large project - just get larger. the podium in the back is half the height the height of the existing 4 turnberry towers, the main hotel tower is the closest tower to the street yet, and it is lllllaaaarrrrggggeee. now they are even working on the front podium, the cores for several elevtor shafts or in and there are lots of them, looks like the fron podium will be just as tll as the back....

basically the entire land will be built up right against the sidewalk.

i work at the firm that is doing the fountainbleau - and i saw photos of a model - is will be great - the front will have a play of lcd screens in different and akward shapes that have not been done in vegas yet - for instance a triangular screen from ground to the roof titled toward the sidewalk.

they are playing with a couple designs for the top signage, how to display the name - or not - or abbriviated.

ive seen some renderings similiar to the night shot that was released earlier - showing the lighting of the tower - i think only the top partion will be lit.....and in blue....so that place will be a bit dark at night - other than the sever lcd screens (i do mean alot - planet hollywood has nothing compared to how FB will have - entire walls of screens....)

Echelon Project

More cranes are being assembled at the Echelon site - these are on the other side of the site where the Delano & Mondarian hotels are supposed to go.

Very cool.

The St. Louis Arch looks a lot like the MGM Amusement park ride/sling shot deal where the Signature now stands -- maybe the placement of the two was done on purpose.

I haven't seen Palazzo yet - maybe it will be better when they open in mid-January.

I agree from the photos I've seen about PH. Looks awful and it would seem like that would be an easy upgrade since they spent $1 billion or whatever it was. How hard is it to light a building? Maybe a lot harder than I realize. The PH lighting sends the subtle message that this is a dard, dead place - totally opposite to the entire idea of the makeover. A vibrant white-red building would be great. Maybe it costs a fortune to light the entire buildign at night?

where is the roof of the PH that was suppose to look like a giant globe of the earth? Everytime i think of Planet Hollywood i think of the giant globe. The new façade reminds me of bubble rap. The entire front of the building that was redesigned doesn't even go with the rest of the building.
can someone get a picture to show everyone what the ph looks like?

Just a little tidbit, but there used to be 36 planet hollywood locations in the U.S. Now there is only 6. (to see which ones are still open and which ones closed, you can look on planet hollywood wikipedia). So its no surprise that the ph casino is so unattractive to me, because they have been known for making stupid decisions.

During the day i think that the palazzo looks great. it is now my favorite. but i have not seen it at night yet.

from reading other articles the upgrade of PH cost roughly $150 million, the $1 billion figure is including the PH towers being built.

i like the new look actually, its rather unique in las vegas, that amount of flash, the old aladdin was bland beyond belief and something drastic was needed

the globe on the roof idea was scrapped in favour of a more down-to-earth design
