You should definitely listen to this KNPR discussion on the monorail to understand just how screwed it was from the get go.

We should have never built the thing. A tram or light rail down the strip would have made some actual sense and would have cost 1/5th as much while getting a lot more ridership.

Question

I Was Traveling on I-15 into Vegas (from So-cal) last weekend and noticed some unsusual construction going on out in the desert behind/next to the Primm Golf Course. It appeared to be some kind of solar project maybe?? Has anybody heard anything on what it is? Thanks!

I was down at the Cosmopolitan this weekend and noticed they've covered the top section (soon to be LED screen) with a picture of an American Flag.

Guess that means it'll be a while before the screen is ready, and they didn't want to leave it white.

I'm a little surprised they're going ahead with this when they haven't even finished Tivoli Village yet.

I finally went to Tivoli a few weeks ago, during the farmers market on Saturday, and while there were a lot of people there, and a good selection of things to buy or learn about, it's still kind of small, and the wall at the north end of it all is kind of ugly. It's a temp wall until the rest of the place is built, but with no signs of construction on the other side, I wonder just how "temporary" it will be. And if they go ahead and start work on Renaissance, will they actually finish it also, or will it stall half way through?

Holy mackerel. EHB must be taking advantage of low construction costs maybe?

800k square feet is a lot of space. By comparison, the Canal Shoppes at the Venetian totals only 500k square feet.

I life really close to this, but not too close. I hope my property values go up.

haha the guy in that video would NOT stop gushing about the projects.

In any case, I will agree this looks to be an incredible project, Tivoli Village is quite stunning and I'm excited at the prospect of this intersection developing with the rest of Las Vegas. LV Boulevard was always notable for its so-to-speak destination intersections (ped overpasses, major resorts anchoring all four corners, etc.) but I've not seen an example of such off the strip. Alta and Rampart is showing its future potential though.

PH Towers Westgate

I was told that PH Towers:

1. It is being rebranded as Hilton Grand Vacations

2. Hilton Grand is spending 6 Million dollars to take the PH Towers name off the elevator doors, at the top of the building and remove all PH Towers branding

3. No More VIP Owner Line

4. No More Westgate benefits

5. No Westgate Transfers or Exchanges into PH Towers

6. Feb 1, 2012 it will be Hilton Grand Vacation Club

He used to post a lot on this very thread I think. Too bad I haven't seen him around in a long time.

Aaron stopped posting here because some people complained that his posts seemed a bit commercial. I thought they were very informative though, and do miss his input.

Anyone hear any more about the water park off of Ft. Apache? I drove by there Monday and all I saw was a cleared lot with flags, and a semi-trailer parked on site.
