I was in downtown this morning for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk and snapped a few shots while passing by. You can barely see it in the first picture but they already have glass around the top on the top 3 floors. Anyway it is really looking good and I can't wait to see it once they get all the glass up to the top!!!

Nice shots sactown07. I am having a hard time forming an opinion either way on how I feel about the project. Definitely 80's-90's looking but I like the color scheme and I think the project does have some interesting angles and lines if it is somewhat dated looking.

It does look a little early 90's ish, but not it could be a lot worse. At least they are using real granite, which helps class this one up a bit.

Speaking of the early 90's, a friend of mine threw an early 90's theme party, and people came all decked out. My favorite costume accessories were pagers and one dude carried around a pull-out stereo the entire night. Perhaps the Sac forumers should throw an early 90's party to celebrate the completion?

This building looks really cool from Bus 80 right around N Street. The blue colors on the windows really add a cool element from that distance.

There's also a really cool vantage point right infront of Zocalo's. You can see the points from 500 CM and 621 CM on either side of the Capitol's Dome. It's definitely something that we haven't seen in Sacramento before.

The exterior skin should be done within the next month, and the building is scheduled for completion in April of 2009

I like the blueish tint on the building. Too bad, we probably won't see any new high-rise development anytime soon.

This building is just so unfortunately horizontal. It's just stubby. Better than what was there sure, but architecturally a step quite a ways backward.

I don't think Kado was ever introduced to vertical lines.

I agree!!!

Looks like they have added another floor of glass since I was down there on Sunday if I counted the floors right. Those are good angles Mike showing the glass on top. Does anyone have any idea why they have scafeling at the top?

I forgot about this one. I might be at the tower next week... I'll ask about the scafeling

The structural steel members at the spire have to be covered with intumescent paint, which is a fireproofing application that gives the steel additional protection in case of a fire. That is the grey colored finish that was on the spire steel in the atrium. They need to apply it to the very top of the spire.
