That appears to be Phase 2 of Hudson Yards. Remember that we have no specifics yet about the eastern half of Hudson Yards.

how can one not comment . .
on the crowning of "little brother" . .
and with such a pristine definitive crown point . .
no compromise of geometry up-top from the NorthWest . .
and then this 13 hundred foot 5 billion dollar showpiece of resplendent resolution . .
showin the rest of this newbie neighborhood's slacker slabs how to strut . .

Hudson Yards's Tallest Tower Begins Its 1,287-Foot Ascent

Quote:
The tallest of the Hudson Yards buildings has finally taken off and the structure is already a few floors above the ground, photos by Tectonic have revealed. When complete, the building, designed by Kohn Pendersen Fox, will stand almost 1,300 feet tall and have 90 stories. The building won't be ready for occupancy until 2019, but developers, Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group have already found a tenant for the commercial building. Investment firm, KKR & Co. will occupy the top 10 floors of the building, a space totaling 343,000 square feet.

The support lies in trusses on tracks, and most of the lower base contains the support. Bracing will support it moving on vertically.

good question. i think its supposed to be one of the bldgs on the rather mysterious western section of hudson yards. i think that half is supposed to be all or mostly residential. also, that is actually where they supposedly make their investment $$$ back.

you can see that particular bldg in this render below. weird that one does not show the others though. i would bet all of these waterfront tower renders are just placeholders and not anything near final ideas as yet, but no doubt that is a-brewing and we will hear more and more about it soon enough.

if only we'd get something as distinctive . .
as that gold-tinted angular (and curved) tower . .
in the western section of hudson yards.

10HY & 30HY are feeling rather alone . .
outfitted in their chic enigmatic nuanced forms . .
uplifting an entire neighborhood of tall drab insipid posers . .

I'll say it again, if you are able, and haven't gone over to visit the west side and watch this city rise, you're missing out. I imagine this is similar to what it felt like watching
the original WTC rise. But there's more going on here. I want to see a Ric Burns style documentary of skyscraper construction in New York, starting from 2010 into 2020,
(episodes dedicated to Billionaire's Row, Hudson Yards, Downtown, Brooklyn, Queens, etc.).

^ I love that view of the tower. Keep in mind it doesn't give us the full view though, with the top crown being hidden somewhat in that angle.

This whole development complex must be so intimidating in person, especially juxtaposed to some of the smaller buildings next to it and all the massive exposed steel. Must be an awesome feeling looking up at it in person.

You live in Mass man, get going and check it out! I would but I live all the way in the West. I'm planning a trip to NYC this year though, so I'm really excited to see all this in person too.
