I just counted up the developments, and including the masterplan developments that's 313 towers over 11 stories in some form of pre-development or construction.

That is absolutely staggering for a city of Vancouver's size, especially since there are tons more soon to be announced.

There are 350+ by my estimation. This excludes a few stale proposals and recent completions from the list, and includes the remainder of the Brentwood Mall project which I forgot to include.

Also, I just converted all images to thumbnails. Some of the images would fail to load properly when embedded at their original sizes. This may partially be to blame for the discrepancy.

~~~UPDATED LIST~~~
Latest addition: a two tower project by Townline at 6050 Sussex Ave. in Burnaby.
Seems rather pleasant and "easy on the eye" to me. I can't come up with any reason to rip it apart design-wise, though others may or may not like it.
Commercial Drive Development Aims to Increase Population Density
Quote:
An integrated social services and residential complex has been proposed for Vancouver's Commercial Drive in an effort to increase the area's density. Much of Commercial Drive's population has been pushed out of the area due to gentrification, and Boffo Properties has put together a development plan that would be provide self-sustaining low-income housing while bringing residents back to the area. The project at Commercial Drive and Venables Street was originally proposed to be 15 storeys tall. The area's current residents have voiced concerns over the increase in population density and big developer interest, leading to the project's current scaled-back height of 12 storeys.
Can't catch them all but here are a couple of the more interesting proposals released in the last couple of weeks:
The lower units will have two 3-bedrooms as well as a 1 bedroom unit that, unlike the family units, will have no balcony.
This one is replacing a KPF design:
This one has a less dramatic design but will be integrated into the stadium so that adds a bit of complexity and interest:
As shown, the units all face North/South, meaning that the stadium side of the building will be a blank concrete wall. Happily however, it is planned that there will be a light feature designed to sync up with the lights of the stadium. This project, along with the other proposed NEFC projects, head to UDP on June 13th.
And these are a couple Robert Stern designed buildings which would blend in to some cities but really stand out in Vancouver:
Thank you all VERY much for the amazing updates on Vancouver and surrounding cities!!! I have ALWAYS loved BC, one of the most beautiful places I have EVER visited! I have always been IMPRESSED with Vancouver's Density and for a city of its size Victoria has a REALLY nice Downtown! I must say you who live up there are truly blessed!! On a side note does Vancouver have a height limit like San Diego? Hopefully not and sometime soon we will see some Super tall buildings crown Downtown!!!!!
