Hard to tell from the vantage points of the pictures, but is the crane as tall as it's going to get... or will they raise it as the building progresses upwards?

When I spoke to one of the construction workers last month he said it would probably be as tall as Place Bell.

Also notice the perfect cluster of decaying apartments for Dianne Holmes to turn into a heritage district; while further entrenching her desired precedent for a paris-like skyline!

I don't know if they're decaying, but the brick jobs across the street look like they were designed by a 6 year old. I used to draw apartment buildings like that!

Jump on streetview and take a look at them up close... WW2-era deco/moderne. The beauty is in the details, if not the overall form.

That being said, decades of Metcalfe's serving as a de facto Queensway offramp have taken their toll both on the streetscape and the condition of many of the buildings on this stretch.

I love those little buildings as well. My impression (although I could be wrong) was that Luker was referring to the taller (12 storey range) 60's/70's era apartments that mushroom out from the earlier builds.

Agreed that those '60s rectangle-laid-on-its-side apartment blocks are uglier than the little brick jobs. However, they have balconies to please the occupants. I wonder how long before this buildng pokes its head above ground?

I'm thinking that they could have this building almost at grade, or at grade by easter of this year...

I doubt that - they're halfway to China down there!

If they're willing to pay for it, who is anyone else to judge?
