Good stuff. NYC never gets old. And you should post up the other pictures when you have time. I'm really diggin' these shots.

Canon Rebel XTi - a few years old... it may be time for an upgrade... but I don't have the budget for it. Anybody want to buy some free photos?
Oh wow I am surprised that an entry level camera like the Xti can produce such amazing images. Could you please tell me what lens you used to take those pics?

I have a Nikon D5100 which I bought recently

I was using the Canon 55-250mm, Canon 17-85mm and Sigma 10-20mm (all f/4-5.6). Congrats on your D5100 purchase - hope you're enjoying it.

Thanks! One more question If I may what settings on your camera did you use to take those beautiful photos on this thread? manual mode? what F value and what aperture?

thanks everybody. I will post another thread in due time. This is the best of what I had, though, so the next one will be something like "best of the leftovers"

I take my daytime shots on Aperture Priority mode. I usually use somewhere between f/8 and f/11 in sunlight conditions, though I'll sometimes use wider apertures (as wide as f/4, which is all my lenses will allow) for candid streetshots of people in order to get a crisper shot with shallower depth of field. The night shots are mostly on full manual mode with f/ stops between f/8 and f/22. I often underexpose the night shots by a couple stops, especially if there's some bright light in there (like a streetlight or something). I don't know if that's necessary on better cameras, or with better lenses, but it is on mine.

For all these shots, I use ISO 100 or 200. Occasionally I'll use ISO 400 for handheld shots, but mostly that's if I'm indoors. Anything in ISO 800 or 1600 ends up with way too much noise on my camera (better cameras handle this better). I generally only use ISO 800 or 1600 if I'm trying for a grainy look (or if I switch the ISO by accident).

Haha, I was just thinking it'd been awhile since Sekkle did a thread. Of course, I was looking for Portland, not NYC. I'm surprised I missed this thread though, but now that I have, I'm just in awe as usual with you. New York definitely seems like a great fit for your style. I loved every single photo. The following two buildings looked really interesting;

edit: Update your signature, it still links to "nightcrawling"

Your photos are amazing. This is basically one of the best urban photography exhibits I have ever seen. I keep going back to your other work and it is just as amazing. I wish I could learn your skills.
