I don't get like half the American state stereotypes.

Connecticut is "New Italy"? Connecticut is probably the least Italian-American state in its immediate vicinity. It's traditionally very WASP and Northern European. Or is it referring to something else?

And why is New York "Apple"? Because of the Big Apple? Upstate apple production?

Or what's with Arizona and Wonder Woman? Iowa and Hawks?

Actually, given how clueless, ignorant, uneducated, and poorly-traveled the average American is, most of the international stereotypes are probably not too far off the mark. Still, some
of these stereotypes seem a bit off, and have little basis in reality.

I don't find that at all amusing nor clever.

I don't think Midwesterners and southern Hillbillies constitute for even half the U.S. population, but you may be right.

I meant those from the Bible belt and suburban and rural areas. Not from Chicago and the other urban enclaves.

Of all the "World according to ______" (usually Americans) things I've seen, this is by far the worst.

I suppose these maps themselves aren't a stereotype.

Unlike southern hillbillies midwesterners actually do visit NYC, and keep a brisk business for the Applebees in Times Square.

i think the answer's pretty obvious. that's alright though; it's entertaining when clueless, ignorant (and i'll add arrogant and condescending) people make asses out of themselves.

if not for his/her attempt to elaborate -- Bible belt and suburban and rural areas -- i might have agreed. but that's not the response of someone trying to be funny.
