Amazing shots. My favorites are the zoom-ins that make Manhattan look tiny and completely (instead of mostly) filled with skyscrapers.

This is quite an old thread, I see. I really haven't been looking at City Photos much in the past few months. I think I need to start doing it again. Perhaps even posting some of my own stuff (not that I have anything good I haven't already posted).

I have a technical question... were you sitting in front of the wing? I've always found it hard to take pictures from airliners when I'm behind the wing (unless the engines are tail-mounted) because of the heat distortion from the jet exhaust.

New York, to that tall skyline I come, flyin' in from London to your door
New York, lookin' down on Central Park
Where they say you should not wander after dark

New York, like a scene from all those movies
But you're real enough to me, but there's a heart
A heart that lives in New York

A heart in New York, a rose on the street
I write my song to that city heartbeat
A heart in New York, a love in her eye, an open door and a friend for the night

New York, you got money on your mind
And my words won't make a dime's worth a difference, so here's to you New York

New York, now my plane is touching down

Upward, yes I was in the very first seat on the left side. I was originally on the right side behind the wing in the middle seat, but I remedied that.

You're right about the heat distortion. Its also not the best idea to zoom too much as the airplane window doesn't act as the best extra lens element.

For years, I wanted to visit New York. I finally got there, to celebrate my 50th birthday last year.

We flew into Newark around 1.00 pm on March 21st - the day those incredible photographs were taken.
