Ah yeah, there's one of the rare 'man made' UNESCO sites in the States over there.
If only they got more seriously involved instead of acting grumpy at UNESCO, maybe they'd have more listed sites by now, aside from their national parks registered as natural ones.
I guess it's mostly a matter of lobbying, like so many other things, you know...
It's probably interesting for drawing tourists and their cash, like prestige or something.
