Lights are looking good! Like another poster mentioned recently about Dodger blue on WG, I can't wait to see the Salesforce Tower orange light show for when the Giants are in the playoffs

Looks like they've wrapped up on the missing glass panes.

^^If those are louvers where the black is, they should have been gray to match the rest of the horizontal banding.

My eye went straight to that spot, and it's distracting.

The Olympic committee is in Los Angeles for the next few days and Wilshire Grand is lighting up accordingly (using the colors of LA's Olympic bid which is supposed to represent the colors of a SoCal sunset).

Two questions:

In the red, yellow, and purple pictures, one side of the sail appears brighter than the other. Is that just a shadow?

Does anyone know if the spire will be fully lit when complete?

I think part of the two tone look were seeing is part of this Olympic display many other locations are displaying for wgen the commitee comes to town. They say things are being lit to reflect sunset in LA. If you looks...the colors on those...the colors go from yellow to orange...to red...to pink...to blue...etc...

As far as the spire...im afraid this may be all were getting...those sad floodlights at the base. They REALLY need to fix that. I hope they see how bad it looks and change it

Images are great. The lighting scheme is very similar to the Gas Tower. Does anyone remember seeing it the brief time it was lit just like the WG? They had to turn the lights off as the office tenants complained about glare. Now that LED tech has come so far, they should reconsider some version--perhaps turned down a bit?

And I agree, it seems quite an oversight (if it is unintentional) that the spire is lit in random places. The very tip, a portion in the middle, with a large swath in between and at the base left dim. Clearly there is no fix as the lights that are working are the only lights installed. Maybe this was an 11th hour approach that just didn't work--wasn't it originally going to be perforated with light inside shining thru?

The lighting is one of the best parts of the building. I went to see it this weekend, and Ive come to really like the design, but somewhat disappointed in the height. Its a fantastic add to the city though.

As far as the spire goes, they'll have to attach floodlights to each section of the spire or just uninstall the entire thing because it's definitely an eyesore just seeing one section lit up.

The spire being lit is still going to happen. Not sure why people think it isn't.

Sadly the lighting in that render is not going to happen. They were originally going to have the spire lit with LEDs...like you see in the picture. Then they decided that the lighting setup would interfere with the self cleaning rig that is automated (thats what that ring at the top of the spire is part of) ...so they instead installed those three floodlights at the base, i assume hoping it would be enough. Its not. I hope you are right...and the have another plan up their sleeve.

I don't buy that at all. How would the lights interfere with the cleaning rig when the LED lights are essentially ingrained in the spire? Why light the entire spine and sail of the building and not the spire?

The LED lights are only ingrained in the "beacon" portion at the top. The perforation does not run down the entire thing. That can be seen in these pictures from the WG facebook page.

I agree. Would love to see what source this information is being taken from. It would be completely ridiculous not to light the spire -- almost as though someone was pulling our leg and trying to start a silly fight on a message board.
