Thumbs up PARIS | Majunga | 636 FT / 194 M | 43 FLOORS

Office building designed by Jean-Paul Viguier et Associés and developed Unibail-Rodamco.
The total surface area available to users would be 748,116 sq.ft (69,500 m²).

All renders, (c) L'Autre Image/Jean-Paul Viguier et Associés

Work has started 6 months ago. They had pretty much to do regarding the subsoil that was difficult. In particular they had to fill in the gaps of an old underground quarry, which is done.
They've been driving foundation piles in for over a month and excavation has begun as shown on these pictures.

05/16

06/20

From defense-92.fr, Majunga's construction weekly updated.
Things will get more visible within the coming weeks.

Cool pics by Jex on PSS, his office might be in the Ariane tower that overhangs the work :

I'm thinking, temperature went up to 37°C (around 100°F) this afternoon over here, and the spot seems fully exposed to the sun which makes it worse. This is sure a badass work.

Work started in early january I think, 10 months ago by now, they're still dealing with the foundations. I can't say whether it's slow, they just say the subsoil took some time.
BTW we've got a sample of the cladding.

Foundation on progress:

I can't embed more pictures of that site to not torture their bandwidth, more details here cause the dense steel mesh looks cool.

This morning:

Last night shot of the couple of cranes working on:

Some amongst my French fellows like that type of cranes better than those used for Carpe Diem because they're said more productive. But they can't be used on a site with buildings too close around.

The cladding looks sophisticated.
It may turn out to be one of the best in la Défense.

^ Same, I sense something good this time. At least it won't be as disappointing as Carpe Diem which yet deserved a good cladding, given its cool structure.
Could this one Majunga be as good as on renders?

Unibail-Rodamco

Defense-92.fr's bandwidth must be spared hence we shouldn't display too many of their photos straight in threads, here are more links to the pictures of the sample:

Majunga's cladding 1

Majunga's cladding 2

Majunga's cladding 3

The dark glassy spandrel seems kind of transparent which might have a cool effect like leaving the structure a bit visible... Yea, that one could well be something elegant, I think.

Too bad it'll be obstructed by Ariane.

It seems like the base starts at a low level, I wonder if the top will appear taller than EDF.

Goyer is a French manufacturer specialized in facade materials such as aluminum. Whether the facade would look nice or not, it is probably not cheap which doesn't ensure at all that it will look good, I guess.

It wouldn't matter if they redeveloped the Michelet and Villon neighborhoods to make something attractive of them. I remember reading Puteaux's mayor was thinking about that in an article about a possible redevelopment of the south circular boulevard within the coming years. Majunga could be seen as a first step toward that plan. Besides, Ariane's facade shouldn't look ugly next to this building. It's much older but we've got far worse of the 70's and Ariane is important to Majunga for a better density there.

Well, renderings say so... It will definitely have an impact on the skyline anyway. For now, Majunga is about to be nothing less than the 2nd tallest of the entire district.

... and the tallest south of the esplanade. It's good to be first somewhere

I like the geometric element this will bring to the skyline. It will surely function in filing in the skyline for a more Gotham City feel if you're on foot. I like that there is a smaller foot print and larger towards the top.

They're following their schedule. Weeks ago, someone told us they had to reach ground level by January, this is it done. The few first floors like those underground may be the longest to raise, then they should progress in the usual pattern, roughly a floor a week people say.
