I still like the OTTER name. I don't like Lotus...dunno...just doesn't sound right for a smartcard. No offense to anyone who does like the name. Just my preference, I guess..

So far the Otter moniker is the most appealing of the suggested names, but I don't understand why Translink couldn't just say "screw it" and use Orca.

*grumble*

If you really want a name that serves as an acronym, then I still like TROT (Travel Regionally on Transit) suggested by jlousa. Second favorite would be OTTER (from mr x2, I think?) - One Ticket Transit for Entire Region.

But if you eliminate the need for it to have a definitive acronym (because it really isn't necessary - as mentioned earlier DC just uses "SmartTrip Card" - everyone there knows what it is and it's really successfully implemented as well with straight-forward name and marketing), then I sort of like these:

Spirit Card
Lotus Card

The wildcard pick for me is "Salmon Pass" - I actually sort of like the pun on words, seems cute and playful.

It has no power to it and people will use it as a mocking term. Which i think was the point of it in the beginning.

I don't like either of those names. Still prefer OTTER of if Translink really doesn't care what people in Seattle think, then go for the ORCA, cause that sounds like a great smartcard name

I just can't bring myself to say "Where could I get a Spirit Card?"

The Scorpion Card
The UN Card (to reflect the multicultural scene)
The Zap Card (gets from one place to another fast, just like the electrical currents from Tasers)

I'm still liking Otter. What's the chances they just have something boring named SkyCard? Although, that could confuse some people that it's only for SkyTrain.

What about TAG?

"Mating takes place in the water and can be rough, the male biting the female on the muzzle – which often leaves scars on the nose – and sometimes holding her head under water." Atta boy!

How could you say no?

Selling Otter plush dolls will certainly bring some extra revenue to TransLink.
