This should be breaking ground this month. At least that's when they had said. They're still working on getting things ready. I read with the city that they're getting their permit for a tower crane. So it should start soon.
I got an email back from Batson-Cook. I'm actually not sure what role they're playing with this building's development since they provide so many services.
Anyway, SkyHouse Austin will be 264 feet to the top of the barrel vaulted roof. The main roof will be 259 feet.
So this will be 7 feet taller than The Shore. Today it would be the 22nd tallest building in Austin right between 301 Congress (306 feet) and The Shore (257 feet).
Apparently the parking garage will be adjacent to the tower.
This was from the Site Plan filed with the city.
Quote:
"Proposed project includes the development of a 320 unit residential tower and adjacent precast concrete multi-level parking garage. Overhead utilities are currently installed on aerial poles on the backside (East Side) of property running within an unimproved alley. Several adjacent properties to the East are served from these utilities. At a minimum we understand these aerial utilities belong to Austin Energy, Time Warner Cable and AT&T. The project will seek to connect to these servcies and some of them will be relocated either underground or on relocated poles. The project also seeks to connect to existing utilities within Rainey Street - To Be Determined. Project seeks an agressive schedule with Site Developement Permit and License Agreement submitted in January of 2012. Address Range Street Cross Street 1 Cross Street 2 47 - 57 Rainey Street River Street Cumming Street "
