We were in a drought not too long ago.

Looking at New York, Chicago, Philedelphia and Miami with my mouth open coming into this thread back in 2002 to 2004.

Even Trump Chicago until recently and WTC New York at present keep me drueling.

The Delta Hotel part of this project interests me the most. I love the render.

This post may be more appropriate in another section of the sight. Does the way TO is building around the Gardiner Expressway mean the city has shelved the idea of burying it?

Yes. It would have been a preposterous expense to bury.

Actually it doesn't mean the option of burying the Gardiner and/or railway tracks has been shelved. Just last week there was an article indicating that the idea isn't dead, but becomes technically more difficult the more we build up right against it.

And it's not preposterous. The value of the land freed up from burying the Gardiner and/or railway tracks would be astronomical. Political will to accomplish what Boston did has always been it short supply in Toronto. Burying is doable, but the culture in this city will likely prevent it from happening any time soon.

Yeah, I don't see the Gardiner ever being buried. I do see the railway tracks getting decked over at some time in the future though.

Yes, it seems like the type of 'Toronto' solution we'll likely end up with.

I remember the much hyped plan to bury the Gardiner and make it something like a two lane stretch of tunnel and thinking somebody got paid for this stupid plan? What a traffic nightmare that would have created at street level.

Anyway, back to Southcore.

I am excited to see the Delta project go up. If it turns out anything like the render, we will have a nice building downtown.

If it ever gets buried, it will likely be at least 4 lanes in each direction with perhaps even a subway line underneath it.

That's really shot up.
Last time I was there a few weeks ago that was barely above ground.
I'm loving the development in this area. It's going to look amazing in a few years!

The CBD is going to be completely buried from view from the lake, and other vantage points soon. Well, except for Scotia and FCP and a couple of the other heavyweights...
