The podium of this thing looks pretty dull in the render. Reminds me of Four Seasons centre for performing arts' south side.

I hope that's the case. It likely will be.

Some screencaps from the 3D Animation video off http://arcestra.com/view/134/1-york-st which krtfd posted at UT.

Amazing to think that the office component will be just as tall as the shortest MLS tower.

When the shoring rigs move from One York to the condo portion of the development I'll be the first to report it.

Yep, it's official. HOOPP (Health Care of Ontario Pension Plan) will be taking 17% of the building, so that still leaves room for a lead tenant that will fly it's banner on the building. Rumour has been floating around that it could be CISCO or APPLE - but no one really knows. Nonetheless, the office is officially under construction.

Some new renders from Urban Toronto.

Official numbers:

One York (Office Component) - 35s (570ft - 173meters)
Harbour Plaza (Twin Towers) - 62s and 66s (735feet - 224meters | 765feet - 233meters)

Nice, I like them. The office tower is a bore, but the twins are right up my alley.

The balcony glass design and materials are very interesting. Kind of like One Bloor meets, Festival Tower.

We'll see.

The office tower will add good density to the area, but agree it's nothing fancy to look at.

By itself, I think the renders look pretty nice. It's quite a classy looking modernist office tower and I like the way it meets the street. It will really come down to materials and execution. I dont mind the condo tower's either. They could look very nice but only if they were the same color as the rendering. Blue glass would look terrible.
However, the darker condo podium looks awful. Randomly placed horizontal accent lines are so played out.

If only they would clad the office building with something different. Perhaps they could look to TD Centre or Royal Bank Plaza for inspiration. I've had it up to my eye balls with all this minimalist sterility. Texture? Colour? Embelishment? Geeessshhh!

I would love the office tower to be clad with precast/brick.

I too prefer the gap-toothed twins to the banal office tower.

I laugh at all the people in MLS who thought they were going to have a great view of the lake.

From the renders it does look as if the dark grey podium will be made of granite or marble, which should make it look a lot less cheap and when finished.

The office tower may end up looking better than the condos all depending on the materials.

Looks like a taller version of Telus House.
