I wouldn't even consider the Keg fine dining. Thenkeg is super casual, I see people in cargo shorts at the Keg all the time. A fine dining restaurant does not have people in shorts and a t-shirt show up.

Ok , I will add to mix, Ancaster Mill, Rousseau House....

Get Tower 3 up and the two Kresge buildings up, and there will be for sure more sustainable demand for restaurants in the core, hopefully at RC.

Ya, a menu featuring chicken wings and nachos is almost never fine dining.

Maybe a Fine Dining in the Hammer thread would be good. Lots of people have things to say about it. It is kinda rare in Hamilton. The one's mentioned that qualify like Ancaster Mill and Rousseau and Quartrefoil aren't even in Hamilton proper. There used to be one at Main and Victoria (ish) that was considered Fine. I don't know if its there anymore?

And worth noting that at one time the Connaught was a five star hotel. When will Hamilton ever see a five-star hotel again.

Shakespeare's Steakhouse is considered fine dining, might be the only one we have in the core.

Lo Prestis at Maxwell's is definitely fine dining - it is even listed as fine dining online.

One can even argue that Ventura's beside the armory is fine dining.

Poor thread ... hijacked by foodies! However, if it spurs a tenant idea for Hamilton23 , so much the better.

Fine dining according to what? The 2018 definition no longer includes tuxedo'd waiters and shrimp cocktail for $28.95! There's not much modern fine dining in Hamilton. Maybe Aberdeen Tavern.

In 2018, fine dining includes excellent service by properly trained front of house staff, in a relaxed atmosphere. Like this place: https://pearlmorissette.com

Down the road, in Jordan. Rave reviews.

This is the thing. But according to whom -- definitions are subjective! For some, Shakespeare's and Lo Presti's are fine dining. But for others they're pretentious dinosaurs that have failed to keep up.

Market niches are important. So long as theirs keep going, they will too. There's room for "modern" as well, whatever that means to whomever would patronize those restaurants.

Hopefully whatever the Connaught folks are working on is a great addition to the varied list that now comprises the core's food fare options.

Fine dining according to their website calling themselves fine dining. I'm classifying fine dining the old fashioned way regardless of what "2018 fine dining" may be.

Coincidentally, Martin Short was on Stephen Colbert last night and Shakespeare's Steakhouse got a nice quick mention.

Yeah that is kind of weird. I think the application sign in Frats has a date of April 2017.

Anyone know what is going in the old Thai place on the block? That spot is being totally renovated right now.
