So what? Last year late November they were 10-7-2... they went on to win the presidents cup.

You guys can minge and moan all you want, but the truth is the Canucks will win the div, have a good shot at winning the conference and are nothing but cup contenders again this year.

That's what happens when you have a quality team with a quality foundation that isn't just some flash in the pan fluke finalists like the oil or flames.

And another first round exit? When was the last time the Canucks lost out in the first round Mr Oilers? I'll save you the trouble, it was pre-lockout 2003-2004. Maybe think before posting next time.

The Canucks are good, but I don't think they're Cup contenders. I think everyone understands now they're a bunch of pushovers.

No grit! But, they're trying, at least.

And now that my thoughts are on the public record, they'll probably win the Cup by somehow playing an even more pushover team, the Washington Capitals.

At least I'm not the only one who disagrees with Shanahan.

Fraser's column has been nothing but pure education on the minutiae of officiating. I hated him as an official (who didn't?) but he really understands the game.

Why would we worry about knocking them out? They tend to do that themselves non?

I always kinda disliked Fraser too, but I think his column is great! I was laughing when Cabbie was asking Gilmore if he thought Fraser would be in the crowd at the HHOF induction ceremony last night.

Here's the history for those people who are new to hockey (Canucks "fans")

Vancouver waits till game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, It's Montreal who riots after the first round. Imagine if Montreal and Vancouver ever played for the cup, there would be nothing left of either city to bring a cup back to. lol

I've given up on the riot jokes for a while, they're just too easy.

Lately the rebuttal has been that it shows how "passionate" Canucks fans are, while Calgary and Edmonton and Ottawa are boring and/or don't care enough because we can celebrate without making international headlines (fine, Calgary got some press for the free titties). Of course, these are the same people who 5 months ago swore up and down that "no fans" were involved in the rioting. All those jerseys aside...

You mean you're actually going to go back to the same old jokes at some point? The riot jokes are well past their expiry date.

I think it's a little early for Albertans to get excited about a lousy year for the Canucks. In fact, with 2 Art Ross Trophies, 1 Hart Trophy, 1 Selke Trophy, and Edler probably taking the Norris this year, plus the emergence of Cody Hodgeson, and other additions from this year and last, this years Canucks could easily be better than last years team.

Our only weakness is Luongo, who gets scared shitless in big playoff games. Let's hope he grew mentally stronger from last years experience.

is this really necessary? this is the stuff that destroyed last year's thread and forum cohesion along with it.

What, people having fun with a rivalry? learn to take a joke.

On a more sombre note, man the Flames suck the fat one this year, they can't buy a goal! that's it, time to blow it up! keep iggy and lose everyone else, even Kipper. might as well tank the season and get a decent draft pick, finishing 9th or 10th and getting a mediocre draft pick ain't gonna work, time to start over.

Why keep Iggy if you plan to blow up the team? He's probably the ONLY guy who could bring a young prospect who might actually have a future.

Everyone else would be shuffling bums for more bums

If they blow up the team, they should keep Backlund and Giordano.

I'm still not convinced we need to get rid of guys like Moss, Bourque, and Glencross (though if need be, I wouldn't be crushed if these guys were moved; I think they can bring in some decent kids).

I'm also liking this Horak kid, so he can stay, too.

Max Pacioretty is on pace for 39 goals this season. I don't think even we, Habs fans, expected him to be that good.

I wasn't sure if last year (14 goals in 37 games) was a fluke or not. It is safe to say it wasn't. He has scored 22 goals in 54 games since being called up from the AHL last year.

He has stated that he wants to stay with the team, and I think he deserves it. Iggy would be a great mentor the young guys, both on and off the ice.

On a positive note, Borque had a much better game, probably didn't appreciate being called out by Hrudey.
